How many of you Ron Paul fans are registered Republicans?

If you are not a registered Republican, when are you planning on taking care of that or are you just relying on Republicans to do your work for you?

Why do I have the feeling that only a small percentage of the people on this board are registered with any of the fifty or so political parties?

I'm for Ron Paul and I'm a democrat. Well I'm really an independent but I had to become a dem or rep to vote in the last presidential election.

Not all states require that you register for a party to vote in its primary so it wouldn't matter for everyone.

Not all do, some do. Some require that you register a party like 60 days in advance, so check your state. I'm not a Ron Paul fan, but if you are, check your local rules.

Also where I live republicans don't have to register as such. We just register the four democrats and know that everyone else is a republican. It's kinda silly here. We have more press coverage for local primaries than for the general election because everybody knows the republican always wins here.

2012 Open Primary States: The key to Ron Paul's Republican Nomination

Since Obama is a strong incumbent for the Democrats for 2012 there will not be any viable Democratic Primaries in 2012. There are 17 states with an Open Primary where many Democrats and Independents will have the opportunity to vote for Ron Paul in the Republican Primary without registering Republican.

Ron Paul's anti-war message of peace and his stance against the Neo-conservatives will resonate strong with many registered Democrats and Independents.

We must organize and put the strongest efforts in these states to encourage Democrats and Independents to vote for Ron Paul and capture all the Delegates of these Open Republican Primary States:

Alabama (50)
Arizona (Semi-closed, with primaries open only to unaffiliated or unrepresented voters, except for the Libertarian primary.)(57)
Arkansas (36)
Georgia (75)
Hawaii (Open primary for state, local, and congressional races; caucus system for presidential races.)(20)
Idaho (32)
Indiana (46)
Massachusetts (All races' primaries open for "unenrolled"/unaffiliated voters only)(41)
Michigan (59)
Mississippi (37)
Missouri (53)
South Carolina (50)
Tennessee (58)
Texas (152)
Vermont (17)
Virginia (49)
Wisconsin (42)

\\How delusional do they have to be to think they can win the nomination simply via the open primary states? The ONLY way Paul stands a chance is if there is a mass effort in the other 33 states to get Paul supporters to register as Republicans so they can vote in the Republican primary.

I normaly vote democrat but I've already sent in the forms to change that this year. Sucks that we can fill out the form online (for Nevada) but still have to print it out and mail it on.

I registered republican so I can vote for paul. Never voted before in my 33 years. He's the only person I'd ever take the time to vote for, even if I don't agree with everything he's about.

All you should need to vote is proof you filed taxes. Party affiliation should make no difference.

The sad thing is if Ron Paul actually became President, he wouldn't be able to follow up on many of the things he talks about (like legalizing drugs and getting rid of income tax) so he will end up being the most hated guy ever. Just like the rest.

These politicians ride on this presidential fantasy thing to get elected. The President really doesn't run the country. But people will elect them like some Jesus who is going to save us all.... fantasy. The party system is just another way to keep the masses wallowing while the true elite do what they want.

1) I usually only vote in the general election.

2) No reg req there for any state I dont think.

3) My state only has caucuses and I am not gonna get involved in all that, wont matter anyhow to him getting the nomination.

4) My state always votes blue. Might as well stay home. I'd vote tho if Paul made it that far.

5) How has a drug legalizer got this far with the Repub (or Dem) party?

I remember a couple elections back he was considered hard 3rd party like Green Party or Libertarian. To get on the Repub ticket would be amazing.

I cant speak for someone else, but I thought it was pretty clear from his post that he never felt inspired to bother before since fundamentally there is really no difference between Obama, or Romney, or Bush, or Clinton. Sure, on wedge issues they play like there is some diffeence to trick the uninformed, but on the real things that matter they are in lockstep running the same gameplan. Honestly, not meant to be offensive, but I would have thought someone of your age who is a reasonably smart individual would have figured that out by now.

Happy new year-

In the general, maybe. In the primaries, totally disagree. Why would a democrat want a republican deciding who the democrats were going to put on the ballot, or visa versa?

Sorry, I mean be registered with the party. Like a member of the Repub party.

Since to vote in the Republican primary for example in Iowa, I think you have to be reg with the Repub party.

I could be wrong. I am really only half way knowledgable cause I been around a while. Politics so bores me. Actually not boring just a waste of time cause nothing changes. Like talking Philosophy.

15 years ago you couldnt get away from it during election year. All there was for talk was talk radio. Remember that? And all they talked about was politics.

After a while you start to see patterns. Same old stuff altho this year looks more interesting with Paul in the race.

Your thread is not boring tho.

Ok, I wont. But since you apparently cant read very well, I will repost his reply. Seems pretty clear to me. What about the sentence "He's the only person I'd ever take the time to vote for" dont you understand??
