Looking for new registrar - name.com or namecheap

I have about 130 domains with 1and1 and a few scattered at directnic and godaddy. I am looking for a new registrar. 1and1's Control Panel is slow and their system seems buggy at times. I am looking for are free or inexpensive whois privacy. That is the main reason I am still with 1and1, the free privacy. Right now I'm looking at name.com and namecheap, as they seem pretty comparable in cost, and I feel they can be trusted.

I can't tell from their website, but does name.com include the whois privacy for free, or does it cost extra?

Anyone using name.com or namecheap, how do you like the control panels? Anyone have any problems?

Thanks for the info!

namecheap works perfectly for me. 600 domains there for 9+ years.

if you have over 100 domains, they will give you a discount on new purchases and renewals. hands down the best.

I didn't know they had a bulk discount. Going to look into that. Was just looking at domain.com, as they have tiered discounts for having lots of domains. Prices look great, but I don't know how much they charge for privacy.

I have a few hundred domains at namecheap and some at name. Namecheap has always given me friendly prompt service. Never an issue in several years.

Thanks guys! Anyone used NameSilo.com? A friend of mine just recommended it, but I had never heard of them. They also have the bulk rates and look pretty cheap. Like $8.39 for 100+ domains.

The discount can be applied to your account once you hit 50 domains. that discount also includes 99 cent privacy.

to the OP, i have nothing but good things to say about namecheap.

Name and Namecheap are both very good registrars.

Name.com has free privacy using code FREEWHOIS. You can also renew the whois protection with the same coupon.

Good luck moving out of 1and1, I heard it was a bitch.

Been using name.com for years - smooth, solid, no problems. When I started, privacy was free, now it is paid but if you use FREEWHOIS code, you'll get free whois. Tried namecheap many years ago - moved out of there right away. Can't even remember what the bullshit was, but I know it was a good enough reason not to give them a second thought.
