What do you use to determine what are the best exact match keywords to target? I've been using the keyword tool provided by google but I wonder if there is something better to use maybe? Any suggestions and how to use it?

I use google keyword as well... I've used others in past that became subscription based.

I compare the results on google to other keywords that I have a good understanding of the overall traffic and scale it accordingly.

best to start with phrase and negs then just find actual search queries. setup conversion tracking codes on links and you can optimize your account very quickly
