Donating Furniture

Does anyone know of an organization that will pickup furniture that I'm willing to donate?

It's good furniture that cost quite a bit, but I have no use for any longer. I don't want to have to actually take it somewhere though. I'd need a truck, and a helper...nah.

I did a search and all I found was a local religious group that sold the furniture in thrift shops they own to fund their church. Which I suppose helps people, but I hate religions, and I hate the thought of donating to one.

I'd just like to see a family that needs some furniture get it, without having to be a christian or a certain faith.

Lots of cloths to go with as well. Do any of you have relations close to Allentown PA that could use a helping hand with this kind of stuff?

Women's and children's shelters sometimes pick up those kinds of things. They are rarely if ever affiliated with any particular church.

You'll be hard pressed to find any non religious group to donate to. I too have tried to find something like what you are looking for but I don't think anything like that exists in my area.

I did once have a women's shelter director come in her own truck to pick up some furniture, you could try that route.

But now I simply donate it to the Salvation Army. Call for a pick-up, and they will schedule a big truck for those kind of items. 1-800-SA-TRUCK

I'll have to try the salvation army or a woman's shelter because all the goodwills in the area don't do pickups. Thanks for recommendations.

You can most likely find a veteran's organization near you and they would be most likely happy to come and pick it up. I've donated several pieces of furniture to one here in Vegas and they always show up promptly and are very courteous.

That's a good idea too. Thank you.
