There is no money in Porn! LOL

Quote:
Not so long ago, many people treated pornography like a dirty little secret. Adult movies were kept in video stores' back rooms or sold in seedy sex shops. Erotic books, magazines and toys were created with men in mind, and women were largely ignored...unless they were nude.

But times are changing. As the Internet gained popularity, pornography found its way into more and more homes. Now, Americans spend up to $10 billion a year on porn, and men aren't the only ones supporting this highly profitable industry.
and yeah, that's straight copy paste from OPRAH.com. From 2009! (link)

This is my free million dollar tip for today.

Thoughts?

I always take the word of Oprah when looking for advice on porn. She's the top authority on the subject.

I read the first page and thought, what BS. So as you linked to it, can you tell us where Oprah got her information from?

Maybe she has the stats from Visa and MC then did some calculations.

Porn revenue is falling from all the indications I see. And I see more than my income. Which is still probably better than some on GFY.

I doubt it's $10,000 a year, let alone 10 billion.

The only indications you see would be the bitching on GFY and content producers that won't adapt going out of business.

I have told you 10 times that at least as of recently porn sales were higher than ever.

Good day.

Programmes close left right and centre, established webmasters get day jobs, sponsors choose to use their content to sell ppc instead of memberships yet every gfy members income is rising.

Where are you getting your stats from? Oprah

Eyeball, in truth no one but Visa knows for sure and I doubt if they care to look at markets so small it would need a microscope.

So ST and Aden are guessing. Like me. My indications come from program owners and offline porn company owners who I've known for a long time. Offline is even worse than online, something ST and Aden are clueless about.

Still waiting for Cherry to come up with how Oprah arrived at her figure of $10 billion.

So lets look at the situation today and compare it with a few years ago. 2008 to 2011

In that time we've had the introduction of tubes, before they were not much, toady Fabian has said he gets in excess of 20 million a day. That's one tube and there's 5 more of a similar size, then the second, tier, third tier and so on. No one has ever claimed the Tubes convert at a better ratio that TGP sites, the previous big channel for traffic.

War child was hooting he converted 1-500 of people who went to the site. That's 00.05% of the people who are interested in looking at the tour. He wouldn't tell us how many didn't click, yet on Pimproll's Tube we got to see the ratios there 1-19 were clicking a banner. Might be the same people, might not. Still the conversion ratios were awful IMO, others thought they were alright as it cost them nothing to give away free porn.

The over all effect on teaching surfers not to pay for porn has no effect on their incomes.

We also have had an explosion in piracy. 3 years ago no one was as worried about them as they are today. Concerned yes, today it's a lot worse.

Then we have the recession which has been the number one culprit for the fall in earnings with everyone saying it will all come good when the recession ends. The lost customers to free porn will rush back to buying porn.

Then on Webcams we have MFC and Chaturbate growing in traffic in the last three years. or so people tell us that they are doing so well sending people to a free webcam site when using their tool.

Yet some claim to be doing better than ever and the industry is growing. With nothing to back it up. So where did all these free surfers come from, where did all the people paying pirates $5 a month to download whole sites appear from. Were they brand new traffic or ex buyers?

My situation after 3 years of doing nothing is far better than there's would ever be. Because I'm a moron and didn't learn the traffic game or shoot exclusive for others. Thank God I'm a moron.

Sure ya do .... albeit a different type of porn than we do!

Women tend to go more for the graphic novels than us guys - who are mostly visual.
We, for the most part, cannot get off unless we are staring at a pair of tits! (or a reasonable facsimile)
