If Whitney Houston hadn't made so damn much money before internet piracy she would be alive today. Image if she was just now becoming popular, she could either have her music stolen or give it away for free. Either way she couldn't afford a drug habit or the hollywood hotel room to od in.

The vast majority of artists want their stuff pirated / taken for free. Of course the mega stars don't, even though it's how groups like Metallica got big in the first place.
