Anyone run an LTD in the UK can tell me if this is normal? - GoFuckYourself.com

My lawyer sent me a letter saying that the British authorities needs to audit his clients and as such, I need to provide certified documentation that confirms:

(a) The affirmative person's name and business address.
(b) Date of confirmation.
(c) The affirmative person's signature.

He even specified the wording to be used and I need to get a fucking public notary to sign it:

"I hereby certify this two be a true copy of the original document and att photograph therein is true likeness of the person therein."

Confirmation of the EHIC should formulated as the following:

"I hereby certify this two be a true copy of the original document."

Please note that I'm not a UK resident. I'm wondering if something is up.

It's a check on the lawyers, not your company.
And yep lawyers do have to keep a record of clients, so probably a law society audit.

It depends - tax, anti terrorism, and money laundering regulations are getting stricter.

If your accountant is running lots of similar ltd's for other non residents (I would guess with nominee directors) he would be well advised to keep this data anyway.

Chances are he is cleaning up his own paper trail should the authorities ever come knocking.

yeah, it's normal. And don't forget the UK isn't the US. Client confidentiality doesn't exist like you think it probably does.

Theres no any confidentiality for UK corps - Most info is available online, other company documents you can download for few bucks.

Accounting , lawyers, audit - all so fucking expensive. I don't think I will ever use UK company for anything again.

Yea the only reason I keep that company is because it owns 50% of another UK company and the owner of that owes me a lot of money - so I keep half of his company until he pays me. Not that it's worth much.

But then again it's not expensive to have a holding company in the UK imho.

I still don't understand what this has to do with an LTD company. My company is LTD, I've never needed to send proof of my signature, apart from the lease for tenancy on my studio. This signature needed affirmation from another solicitors than from my own
