Arazona peeps that love the laws there. Hows this one feel!

Porn Shot in Arizona Could Be Deemed Prostitution

PHOENIX ? Porn producers considering a move to Arizona to beat the new Los Angeles mandatory condom law could be facing a prostitution rap.

Arizona, among other areas including Las Vegas, have been targeted as likely new homes for the adult business that?s having the door slammed in its face by its long-time home in L.A.

Even neighboring areas outside of the San Fernando Valley porn hub, including Simi Valley and Moorpark have made it clear that they don?t want porn shot in their neighborhoods.

Los Angeles is one of only two places (the other being New Hampshire) where porn is legal to shoot.

But according to a CBS news report, Arizona Maricopa County attorney Bill Montgomery said any move by California?s porn industry to his area might be a violation of the state's law against prostitution.

"Under Arizona law, anyone paid to appear in a pornographic movie may be guilty of the crime of prostitution, which carries mandatory jail time as well as the possibility of other penalties," Montgomery said.

If you are aware of who shoots here in town, you would know that this is more or less the authorities giving a warning to the California crowd to stay the fuck out. There are a handful of programs that shoot here and have been doing so for over a decade for most of them. They keep it quiet so the law leaves them alone. They also hold the Forum here obviously and the law is aware of that being here. Yes it's a conference, but they'd be stupid not to know the amount of shoots that occur during that time period alone. There are also many photography workshops shot here year round that include nudity which could be classified under this law. They are all left alone because they are no big deal and they don't want to stir up any shit.

If porn central set up shop in AZ, they would come down hard on everyone. It happened a few years back with swingers clubs that got to be a little to high profile. Also, the worst thing that ever happened to the Forum was a few years ago GGW decided to bring that monstrosity of a bus to town and park it right in front of the Palms. Every fuckin channel in town ran stories about the "porn convention" happening in Tempe. It had been going on there for years already with no one really the wiser. No one wants Porn Central anywhere in AZ, but they'll let the quiet stuff go on as long as it remains that way.

I'd say the move to Las Vegas would be more porn friendly than AZ.

With this topic of conversation, you chose to worry about a typo?? No wonder this industry is going to hell in a hand basket.

I do get what you are saying. But This ass hat Sheriff has not been as Vocal on the international market as much as he has lately.

My thought on this, is that he has lost a bit of the lime light with the immigration issue so he may try his hand at going after porn.

Last thing people need there is getting busted for something and then having to Lawyer your way out.

So I guess this is an issue in EVERY STATE IN THE COUNTRY, (except for California and New Hampshire...) Not just an Arizona issue.

Basically yes. But not every state in the country has a Sheriff that is always trying to grab international headlines.

I remember a day when affiliate programs had pages of Banned states listed. if you resided in those states you could NOT promote their sites. Florida was one listed.

Those list are still enforced by us magazines guys, but it is no longer by states but sections of states. If you see the map it's like those congressional districts everyone makes fun off.

It's an election year and people say things that are designed to get attention. You never know what they care about until they actually arrest someone. I highly doubt that porn gets bumped any higher up the list unless someone does something very public and the complaints come rolling in. If no one is complaining, why would the authorities worry about it? Technically, everything FTV does falls under lewdness statutes here in AZ, but if no one witnesses it or complains then is a crime actually committed? (Love your shit FTV...always fun to watch). If someone watches an FTV episode and says.... Hey, that looks like it happened down the street.. the first question is. Did you actually see it happen?

Statutes of limitations come into effect very quickly. You can't be forced to implicate yourself. Who's to know when the content was produced? A lawyer would have a field day if they decided to use your own 2257 records were used against you.

I agree with you on the getting arrested and then lawyering out thing. I think that's a pretty good statement for most situations; however, prosecutors and DA's have to "make progress" too. If they weren't succeeding in making people pay for breaking the law then what good are they??? LOL (You've got to love the idea that cops and prosecutors have minimum levels of success and/or quotas... seems reasonable and silly all at the same time).

election years suck ass. I wonder if the Race for Prez will influence this in the least as the two front runners are also preaching the evils of porn. Maybe this guy will want to be in good with them.

One thing I have learned is to expect the unexpected and that people are evil.

then again, maybe not...

"Furthermore, anyone involved in other aspects of producing pornographic movies, including soliciting individuals to appear, collecting a fee from the monies received by individuals solicited to appear by virtue of an agent relationship, transporting individuals from California to Arizona for the purpose of appearing in a pornographic movie, and/or establishing a venue for the filming and/or production of pornographic movies may be guilty of committing one or several felonies in the state of Arizona."

looks like they got all bases covered on this one.
