Not a male versus female question IMHO as much as people want to think that it is. How about this. Put the entire seat down every time. If you dont have a seat and can't get one, then however you found it, just leave it that way. Or how about this, make sure your pissing with it in the proper position for you and clean up afterwards.

I make it a habit to close everything before I flush. I expect the same from everyone else in my household. Unfortunately, I don't get it from the wife or the kid.

I figure, close everything. No one wants to walk into a bathroom and see into the toilet right off the bat.

How true. If my wife leaves the lid up but seat down (which is most of the time) and my 11 year old son goes in to take a piss, he tries to do it through the smaller seat hole, and ends up pissing all over the seat. And of course, he never wipes the seat off. So if you happen to come in to take a shit after he has peed, and you don't give the seat a once over with some TP, you sit in piss.

I'm kind of baffled by this being a big thing, although South Park was funny enough. I've lived in group houses with 8+ guys and nobody ever left the seat in the wrong position. Apart from everything else, unless you are a kind of extreme housekeeper, it just looks kind of gross having the seat up. I think most men replace the seat. Certainly, in the US, toilets are designed to look more correct with the seat down.

I wish I had thought of that! I lived with two stupid girls for 3 months and apparently my leaving the seat up was a big offense to them (of course i was paying bills and cleaning). After that I kept the damn thing up just on principal that if you are too stupid to pay attention to where you sit you deserve a wet butt!
