Time To Cut My Cable Tv

I have Directv and I think its time to cut it and save some money. I want to know how many of you have cut the cable and watch tv online?

Also how do you do it? I like the discovery chanel, history and more but it seems like it isn't easy to find the shows I like online, like Deadliest Catch and the like.

What do you guys do and how much does it cost you a month?

Tap into your neighbors. Gideon calls that "time splicing" and says it's perfectly legal.

Netflix has some older Deadliest Catch and a shitload of other science and military documentaries, and stuff live man vs wild and shit like that. I have an Apple TV in my office and that stuff is on all the time while I'm in here.

Cut our cable about 6 months ago, replaced it with working more instead. Saving more and making more money too

Had netflix for a couple months in the winter which was nice.

Haven't had cable in 3 years. Sure there are some shows I'd prolly really like but hard to justify with time and money spent for just a couple. Things I do watch I can find online

Only reason I still pay is for all my sports. I don't watch anything else on tv really...

Been two years now without cable TV, but still stuck with Time Warner because they have the fastest internet in the area. Hulu, Netflix and TV Torrents...that's all I need.

Got rid of cable over 3 years ago. We watch everything on Hulu, Netflix, and the occasional Red Box or Amazon on Demand rentals.

There are a few shows, like Survivor, that we watch direct from the network's website. Usually the day after they are on TV.

Doing this has also caused us to seek out different shows than what we might normally watch. I don't miss cable at all.

I have 1 more year on direct TV and that's it... no more 'cable' for me

you can get plenty of tv for free.

Antennas still work (and the hd is better) this site will tell ya what you can pickup... tvfool.com a decent antenna and a amp within 50 miles of a city and you'll have all the cbs/nbc/abc/fox/pbs/ects

and then theres fta satellite. http://www.lyngsat.com/freetv/United-States.html Your directv shit is worthless to pick that up.. you'd need a bigger dish, at least 30" , a motor, a linear lnb, and a new STB.

I have no idea why anyone pays for tv.

I got rid of paid for tv a long time ago. Now I use XBMC + Icefilms plugin. It's 100x better AND commercial free!

I love the convenience of all the HD channels I get on Direct TV and the two channel DVR that auto-records all my favorite shows and movies, even though it costs me about $130/month. All you guys so proud of yourselves for 'cutting the cord' must either not watch much tv at all or waste a lot of time looking for and downloading shows. Either that or some really can't afford $100/month for cable.

pay $100 a month for the internet connection, though cable... direct Tv is about $60 per month and seldom watch it

Never had cable as not much of a TV guy besides movies/news. I travel quite a bit so usually have hotels with cable. If my traveling slows down might pick it up but honestly don't watch much and having hundreds of channels combined with my internet work doesn't seem like a healthy combo.
