Anyone smart on GFY? Help me with MOBO ?
Hey,
Gimme perl, php, even Apache. Gimme Windows? I crash it. Guaranteed. This is what I wanna do: My wife's desktop is an ASUS p2b - PIII, 2 hd's and has everything on it. I have a server case and a P4 board. The P4 board is a Micro-Star 6524. I wanna put the P4 in my wife's Antec case with her HD's. I don't want to reformat the main drive. Then, I wanna use the PIII to build our network server, which I'll set up from scratch. Question in short words is: Can I slap the P4 board in the case in place of the PIII board and even expect it to work? Or, will I have to start from scratch on her desktop also? I'm trying to go this way to keep from losing all of the data, programs etc. Anyone? AST ICQ me? Click Here or E-mail me Here

You want to swap the p4 board into the case that has the p3 board? The screw holes and connections are the same so you shouldn't have a problem

Thank you. I know it'll bolt in, her machine is an Antec server case.
As long as the hd with the os (2000 Pro, NTFS) will pick up the P4 board, everything is golden. I guess worst case scenario is that I'll have to put it back the way it was and try to move as much stuff as I can save to the slave drive, huh? That will suck, because she'll lose a lot of her programs that rely on being on the windows drive. Thank you for the input, AST

it'll pick it up fine. Might be missing a few drivers so you will need to install those. Id recomend uninstalling the old mother board drivers before you hook it up to the new one
