"A black student organization at the University of California at Berkeley is demanding the university rename a building on campus after Assata Shakur, a former Black Panther, convicted cop killer and the first woman named to the FBI's Most-Wanted Terrorist List.

They're also demanding a meeting place solely for black students, $300,371 for two black admissions staff focused on black recruiting, $113,932 for another staffer to handle black retention, two black psychologists who understand the "racially hostile campus," two black advisers to mentor black athletes and a fully-funded 'Get into Graduate School' mentoring program." So they want to name a building after a black panther criminal cop killer and they want money from white people, hispanic people and asian people to hire black people to bring more black people to the school and stop the black people that are leaving the school from leaving?

I was thinking more along the lines of people coming together and saying "Yeah these kids are taking it to far."

Race aside, since that's your issue, naming a building after a convicted cop killer in the name of honor and respect is fucked up.

This could easily be a Mexican, Asian, or white group of kids pushing for this. It's not a race issue.

Just to reiterate, to me, it's about an extremist/militant group that feels entitled and trying to push for something absurd in the name of their cause. They happen to be black, but there are christian groups, gay groups, islamic groups, etc. that try to do this same thing. Extremists do extreme things it doesn't mean we should through shade on all persons of any group.
