What is the best TV show or movie you've seen AFTER purchasing Netflix?

I don't mean your favorite movie or TV show of all time. I'm simply talking about the one show or movie that completely blew you away and you would have otherwise never seen it had it not been for Netflix.

Let's hear it!

I think Netflix was killer for documentaries. But I found that whenever I went to Netflix because I had an idea to watch something, 95% of the time it wasn't available on instant. I really grew tired of that and stopped using it, then canceled that shit a few months later. I used it so infrequently, I forgot I had it.

So there's the great thing I've seen on Netflix. Nothing.

There are two that stand out for me TV show wise. I had never seen The Office or Louis before getting Netflix. I watched them on Netflix and loved them.

As for movies I discovered through suggestions a trilogy called The Red Riding trilogy. It is three movies that all follow the hunt for a serial killer over the course of nearly 10 years. They are based on three novels and are very well done. The one potential downside is that they are shot in the UK and some of the accents are very heavy. There are subtitles, but they can go by quickly so at times you might have to rewind to catch up on things.

Very seldom do I randomly find something on Netflix, more often I hear about something and then go to Netflix to see if it's there.

Although recently I discovered Ugly Americans, a comedy central cartoon, in my "similar to" list, and it's awesome.

I watched that a couple of times on Comedy Central and laughed my nuts off. Is it consistently that good?

Agreed.

However, I will also watch TV series while on the treadmill I did not watch while popular. Some of those are Friday Night Lights, 24, X-Files, Deadliest Catch, and so forth.

I do not watch a lot of network TV, and often times do not catch a series until years later.

I remember you use to tell me about a lot of cool documentaries... anything that pops off your head now?

Forgot to mention Documentaries are my fav. thing to watch... so if anyone has anything for me I'm all ears.

LOL the other day I watched a movie from 1983 about an end of his career real estate agent who discovers cocaine. He becomes the success he always wanted to be and then his world comes crashing down.

If it weren't for Netflix I would have never watched that movie.

I'm into the documentaries, myself. The one's on Air Force One, Secret Service, Presidential photographer, Bernie Madoff, American Airlines, etc.

I don't watch a whole lot of television, so I've been using Netflix to watch entire series of a couple of shows that I had heard good things about.

Breaking Bad
The Wire

Well worth it.

I just finished watching "Lillehammer" which was Netflix's first go at their own original programing. Stars Steven Van Zant from The Sopranos/E Street Band as a mobster in the witness protection program in Norway. I defintly wouldnt say it is as good as The Spronas or Breakin Bad by any stretch but if you can get used to a good part of each episode being in subtitles (Figured that would stop after episode one but it didnt) its not to bad. It's almost like a cross between "The Sopranos" and the movie "Fargo"
