The Cost Of War

We should make life miserable here in the US by cutting off all social programs in order to feed the war profiteers. This way we can stay safe from the imaginary boogie men who are out to get us! Seems like a reasonable trade-off (if you're a total fucking moron).

Looks like obama is gaining on bush. Pull the troops from iraq, then stick them in Afghanistan. Where are all the anti-war protesters that were all over the news in 07-08?

No problem. They can justify that blaming illegal aliens for all their financial problems.

Very odd. Why is the cost of the war in Iraq going up every moment, yet we've pulled out?

Why are we questioning the war in Afghanistan?

are we not just paying a bunch of contractors to do what the army did in iraq ? i find it hard to believe that puppet government we put in there can survive on its own.

911 death count : 2,996

USA death count Afghanistan : 1,827
U.S. troops seriously injured : 3,420

USA death count Iraqi : 4,414
U.S. troops seriously injured : 31,882

the Department of Veterans Affairs does not classify suicides as war-related casualties but the number is very high, up to the first month of 2012 are up to 50,000 or more

im not saying troops should not go and fight for freedom but it looks like the us government is killing more people than terrorist do
just looking at those figures the terrorist would need to level a small city to keep up with the government

Still, where are the anti-war protestors that were so prevalent on TV 5 years ago?

The department of defense is the one that released that number. Worse yet they point out that while soldiers only make up about 1% of the total population they make up 20% of the suicides in this country.

It is a tragedy.

Just speculating here, but Obama did set a date for us to be out of Afghanistan so maybe people are giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Wasn't that awhile ago though and he extended it? Freely correct me if I'm wrong though.

I could be wrong about this, but I think I heard him on CNN recently saying that we will be out of Afghanistan by 2014, which I think was the original date he set.

Of course it is conveniently after the election so if he wins a second term he could always "evolve" his position.

How would you feel if you thought you were giving your life for "freedom" only to find out you were giving your life for "profit." I'd imagine a lot feel played and in turn... Why do you think the majority support, see sig..

I come from a generation that would stand up and be counted.

Today they are more worried of getting the latest app. Consumerism won.

Just think about what we could do with the education system if we ditched some super expensive program like the Joint Strike Fighter, which has been an endless money pit.

We have an economic war to fight with countries like China, and our best weapon is educating our children to grow up and start companies that will put the US back on top.

Eventually, today's rich old white men will be dead --so let's hope that the future rich old white men are more progressive thinkers. Or maybe it's an endless cycle.

Are you fucking kidding me? Your generation HAD a chance to change the world, but opted for consumerism instead. Your generation created the consumerist utopia. We just live in it.

That has nothing to do with the cost of war. That's civilians doing construction, not money spent on food for our military, bandages, ammo, etc.
