I cook chicken teryaki damn near weekly. I want a rice cooker though. Boiling is a pain. That looks great except the mushrooms and tons of sesame seeds.

Yum

I got to say the mushrooms were amazing... really tasty, yellow oyster and some other japanese styled mushroom...

Yeah I had never used Sesame Seeds before... I actually threw away about 5 times as many that went on the dish... I have to say however again they worked...

I used to own a Japanese restaurant way back in the day with my Dad. Still love cooking Japanese food at home once in a while.

Looks delicious!

Did my first teriyaki barbeque of the year last weekend...Yum!!!

The key to great Teriyaki is including sake and mirin (rice wine vinegar). That is the reason most store-bought prepared teriyaki sauces don't taste the same as what you taste in real Japanese restaurants and at Japanese festivals.

Look for recipes including sake and mirin!

I have to admit that I cheated and used a combination of two ready made Teriyaki marinades... next time I will for sure make my own

Those look really good!

Threw away sesame seeds?!? I go through a big 16oz bottle in just a couple of months. I use them everyday I think. Hell I've craved a snack and settled for a spoon of sesame seeds more than once.

I put sesame seeds with rice mostly. I also make rolls, like hamburger or hotdog potato rolls and put seeds on them. Or as a garnish like you did they look good and taste good.

I bought the Zojirushi rice cooker about a year ago. I'll make 2-3 cups of rice and it stays hot, fresh, and moist (I like my rice like my vagina) for up to 4-5 days. One of my favorite kitchen appliance purchases.

Totally unrelated to beef teriyaki but since I always have extra rice around the house I threw together a Mexican rice side dish that's been pretty good. I just sauté some garlic with some olive oil and butter then add the already-cooked rice. Sprinkle on some cumin, black pepper, and cayenne/chipotle. Cook that for a moment then I'll add some chicken broth and tomato sauce and reduce it down for a bit. I'll randomly add jalapeno/onion/bell pepper/whatever.

Cheap and tasty.

No disrespect, the dishes after all do look great, but if you were using bottled teriyaki sauce and non-stick teflon or whatever style pans then I am going to have to call you out on your cooking cred...

Real chefs use well seasoned cast iron for non-stick pans and make teriyaki sauce from scratch.

Just saying...

The prep looks solid though. Chef Far-L Ramsey can't fault you there.

Point taken... next time I promise to make my own Teriyaki, it was more a convenience thing (LAZY IN OTHER WORDS)

One of my sisters doesn't eat beef, so she has asked me to do Chicken and Salmon Teriyaki next time (as well as Beef of course)

Home Made Teriyaki

OK so to prove I am going to make my own Teriyaki Sauce next time...

There seems to be a bunch of different recipes !!! They all seem to include Miran, Soya sauce and brown sugar... any other tips ? I might play around with a few ideas... some have ginger is, some dont... same with garlic...

And yes I know Wasabi doesn't go in... but thinking of doing something for the Wasabi as well... maybe some nice Prawn/Sushi Rolls...

Hell, garlic and ginger can go in anything they want to, lol. That's just me though. I've never made it, so have fun.

I am not going to go the "garlic" root... but will try some with ginger, and some without... see which I like the best
