Natural health people in here please...

I've been pretty sick since Phoenix Forum. Haven't been feeling good for months.

The 26th was my 10 year sober anniversary. The next day I woke up and realized if I kicked that, I can easily take better care of myself.

While my eating habits shouldn't make my Crohn's worse, I certainly wasn't helping it. Red meat tears me up and I enjoyed it too much.

Today I ate chicken and fruit and feel like a million bucks already.

I was talking to my neighbor about how hard digestion has been. I mentioned the two antibiotics I take for maintenance and his instant thought was no wonder, they're stripping my gut of good enzymes and everything else. He gave me two things (don't know the names but will get them) and told me to go to Whole Foods and get the live good bacteria they sell.

Assuming my digestive system is a wreck, what all do you recommend I take?

I'll tell ya, I never believed in natural remedies but he said I'd feel better two hours after I took those things and I did.

People have suggested other stuff in the past that I didn't think worked, but I have an open mind now and nothing to lose.

TIA

I have crohns and I take probiotics by Sedona Labs.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000KI...8183546&sr=8-1

Don't forget to take a multivitamin everyday. Since we don't absorb nutrients like normal people. A liquid multivitamin might be best.

I also take bovine colostrum pills and fish oil sometimes.

It's all about money my friend.

That is why the FDA is trying to ban supplements and other natural remedies from being sold.

The entire health care system is now a platform for profit, and really not geared towards helping people in the way that it's supposed to, which should be it's top priority.

It's really sad, but most people I know who have dealt with doctors in the past 2 years, know just what a joke it can be. That's not to say that all doctors are bad, but it's getting more and more difficult to find ideal ones.

I had stomach issues, went to many doctors, and always got the run around. After years of doing research and keeping logs, I finally tracked down the issues of concern and dealt with them myself.

I think his probiotics recommendation was the refrigerated ones because they are 'alive.' Any feedback on that?

What I hate is that doctors say take these antibiotics (and I do need them or get abscesses)... but what is so wrong for them to explain the downsides and then natural remedies that will help offset the side effects? They wouldn't lose a patient and neither would big pharma. The antibiotics are needed because without them I need more frequent surgeries but why not some guidance in other areas?

That sounds even harder. I need baby steps. Get used to one thing and try another. Afraid if I make too many changes too soon it will set me up for failure. Something to consider though.

it's not that hard, gluten free just means avoid anything with wheat in it

Yeah I started with refrigerated ones too until I found out about the Sedona Lab probiotics. They are alive too and don't need to be frigerated. They're shelf-stable. They are cheap too. So it's up to you.

Yup. No prob!

Bad bacteria loves sugar and flour. Try to cut down on those. Increase good bacteria with probiotics, dairy products, yogurt.

You can double or triple the recommended serving but do it over time and listen to your body. It's good bacteria it's not going to hurt you.

Don't forget the multivitamin. Taking one a day is a must for us.

When one takes antibiotics orally, you essentially trigger World War III in your body, a total wipe out which nukes all of the bad guys and the good guys too. It takes 1 year for the good guys to return (unless you nuke them again). With your armies massacred, you could go down with Meningococcal Septicaemia, you will have digestive problems, you're more likely to go down with various Cancers in the future. Also if there comes a time in your life when you really do need antibiotics e.g. advanced bacterial pneumonia, they might not work for you, you might have become resistant.

The reason Big Pharma give you antibiotics is because they want to nuke your defenses; they don't like your immune system as it's a barrier to their profits. Antibiotics are a 'Get of a Jail' card, one should save them for the real emergency.

One more thing, never ever receive a vaccine when you're on antibiotics or have recently been on them, lots of the kids who get fucked up by vaccines have just been on antibiotics.

avoid gluten... if you are one of the people that have an autoimmune reaction to it, it will begin to destroy your gut causing malabsorption and an increased immune response (since your gut will have small "openings" in it - allowing proteins to escape into the blood) which will make you feel like shit as well

here, read this http://www.precisionnutrition.com/fix-gut-fix-health

something else that maybe useful

gotta heal yourself with food, it's the only way that will work. Off the top of my head I know that olive oil and ginger both promote strong gastrointestinal health but this site has all the answers and is not loaded with bullshit and propaganda like most other health sites--not to mention its all foods that you can find in any grocery store for cheap.

whfoods.com check out their super foods list you can get lost in there for weeks looking up stuff. you can do searches for specific health problems too.

Look into Fecal Transplant. Sounds gross but it apparently works for a number of gut related issues.
