Hey Andy

Fury is fighting Vinny Maddalone tonight, who used to be a really tough brawler but he's pushing 40 and has a ton of mileage on his body now. He's KO'd a couple of nobodies in his last 2 fights but the last time he fought anyone of note was Tomasz Adamek back in 2010 when Adamek was first trying to move up to heavyweight. Adamek hasn't shown a lot of power as a heavyweight and he was able to KO Maddalone in 5 rounds so that should give you an idea how far Maddalone's chin has deteriorated.

I've actually been following Fury's training camp a bit on a few boxing forums and supposedly he has cleaned up his diet, has been training like a madman and is in the best shape of his life. Maddalone is going to come right at him throwing bombs so it will probably be a short fight, and Fury will most likely KO him in 6 rounds or less, which is a shame because I'm curious how much Fury's stamina has improved.

What I don't understand is why this is only Fury's second fight of 2012. His trainers are saying they want him fighting one of the Kiltschko brothers by next year, and if that is the case Fury needs to be fighting at least 6 times a year. I know he had a really long training camp for this fight and they are really focusing on his conditioning, but this is still only his 19th fight and he only had like 35 amateur fights so the guy needs more work. I really think he is going to be a problem for either Klitschko but the last thing I want to see is him getting thrown in there before he is ready...

The fact that Tony Thompson even gets to fight Wladimir Klitschko again after losing the first fight and not beating anyone of note other than Chazz Witherspoon since then just goes to show you what a mess the heavyweight division is. I thought Thompson had some moments early on in the first fight where Klitschko had a tough time adjusting to someone that is the same size as him, but after a few rounds Klitschko adjusted and it ended up looking like the typical Wladimir fight where he jabs his opponent to death and gets a late KO. I honestly see tonight's fight looking the same, although Thomspon did have a knee injury before the first fight that he ended up needing surgery on afterwards and he claims that was a factor...

Wasn't a very interesting fight. Fury dominated from the beginning he looked more controlled and composed but the opponent was very very poor it would have been hard for Fury to look bad against such a poor opponent. Shame i wanted to see what he could do..

Maddalone used to be a really tough guy but he's taken a ton of beatings over the years and he just doesn't have it anymore. At least the fight gave Fury a few much needed rounds and hopefully his management will keep him busy the rest of the year.

Wladimir Klitschko just dominated Tony Thomspon this time and KO'd him in the 6th. There really isn't anyone else for either Klitschko to face now until some of the young guys like Tyson Fury, Seth Mitchell, Robert Helenius, or even Deontay Wilder (who is also every bit as big as the Klitschko's) are ready. The one guy who I do really like and I think just needs one or two more big fights is former K1 kickboxer Alexander Ustinov, who is also a huge guy that could stand toe to toe with either Klitschko. The problem with him is he is already 35 and needs to make something happen soon, and he is promoted by K2 the Klitschko brother's promotion so that could cause some friction...
