Ebay rules and fees?? Did I read it right?

Is it true that you can now list up to 50 items a month for sell without a insertion fee?

Meaning that if I list 10 items for $10 and none of them sell then I don't owe any money?

It sounds too goog to be true, so maybe I didn't read it correctly.

I hope so.

Not sure if it's 50 but they have been doing limited free insertions for a bit.

I am pretty sure you are right. They just bend you over if you actually sell something with all of their fees.

That's what it seems to say here :

I'll take the hit on a sale; but taking that hit on non-sales made me quit using ebay.

You are never guaranteed enough views to sale anything in that vast sea of junk.
It's not even like a real auction where a captive audience will view your item,
so paying those fees without selling stunk.

eBay's high fee's are catching up to them. Full time sellers are angry and looking for other options.

I think with fee's so high, it really opens the door for a new online auction company.

This is nothing new. We've been saying it for years. eBay is the worst!

They only care about the buyer.

This is one example of why you need competition.

Is kijiji popular in the us? I've never sold anything on eBay since using kijiji. I guess Craigslist is the equivalent in the us. Depends on what you are selling of course.

I don't think the fees are too bad. Much better than Amazon. What's killing me is the holding period.

I wish ebay would get a clue about viewing listings though.

For example : I want to sort a category by most bids received or highest bids received.
Seems to me that would help me find what is hot.

I don't know about small merchandise, but I sell big-ticket items. My minimum item is $3000. Almost every time I get a sale, there is a three week holding period on my money. The money will be in my PayPal account, but I will not be able to use it until the holding period is over.

I've been playing with bonanza lately and so far, so good. They don't have the traffic that Ebay does, but the sales are pretty close to the same level with about 1/3 rd the views. Anyone else using bonanza? How about long term?

I have been selling products average price $100-300 and also hit by the 21 day holding period on a number of accounts with clean non-dispute history.

They either want an email stating the item was delivered or the buyer has left positive feedback before they'll consider releasing before 21 days, really sucks when you're selling discreet goods that people don't really want connecting to their feedback!

In my experience the biggest scammers are the buyers who face no penalties for this unlike sellers.

I have 3 stores on ebay and one on amazon - They are pretty much neck and neck with the fee's. But yea not to happy... USPS needs a economy option too. From West coast to East coast it's a given $10+ - Can't ship a 12inch dildos media mail anymore lolz

I guess it depends on what you are selling. I pay 15% on Amazon, I think it's like three on eBay? Even with the massive difference in the rates, I still make way more on Amazon. No haggling.

I look at Amazon/eBay as free sales. Virtually no work. Granted, I want the lowest fee as possible, but if paying 15% allows me to gain extra sales then so be it.

What are some other sales sites? I wouldn't mind setting up more stores.

All my stores carry items from 4.00 to 300.00 so my fee's on ebay/paypal/usps (included together) average between 15-21% depending on the BIN and Amazon is at 15% plus a few nickle and dimes here and there for postage and some other tiny fee's.

If you sell stuff over $1k I guess you get 3% ebay?? That's kickass if you get that low rate. I need to source and find diamond crusted butt plugs

Yeh my eBay fees are around 3%. I don't know if that's because of transaction value or because of my product type. But like I said, after all of the haggling and back and forth, I usually make more money per sale on Amazon with the 15% hit, LOL.

Bonanza will shut you down quick for slingin dildos and shit They shut the smaller adult stores But then they allow bigger companies to sell whatever they want. There is nobody to talk to dispute anything at corporate once your blocked. All it takes is a few competitors to report you. Its been a few months since I last tried but I'm sure its the same thing.
