Netflix CEO buys $1m Facebook shares

Now I have even less faith that he can run Netflix properly.

Every so often I'll hop on and see what's new. Every so often I'll hop on and see that nothings changed. I think that says it all.

This is exactly how I feel. Same rehashed bullshit I have seen on there forever. It's still not a bad alternative to TV when you are bored, and my daughter loves watching it on her Wii - all of the kids and princesses shit.

So more or less, it's a $7.99/month baby sitter

Hmmmm .... maybe facebook and netflix have a partnership in the pipes???

The ability to rent movies directly from FaceBook?

If they pulled it off, both companies would certainly profit from it ...

But then such a sale of Facebook stock might interest the FTC?

So many speculative scenarios ...

I don't understand stock but would that be insider trading if they made a partnership?

Facebook is not going anywhere. They did everything right, to secure the future of the company. Too many companies rely on FB user database and api to exist. Going public just secured that they will always have a cash flow to continue to buy up companies and grow even more.

That's like saying the iPad will fail or go way, to many companies rely on it for it to go away.

Facebook now is what AOL was 10-15 years ago.

It would be a good purchase by FB. Why bother with a partnership?

So you are saying there will still be ipads in 50 years? I doubt it.

Bitching about Netflix always amuses me. Eight dollars a month for a pretty large collection of movies and TV shows. They really have a lot of TV shows now. The movie collection is not that great. But still, eight dollars a month?

Cable: $80
one movie at the movie theater: $10
Netflix: $8

people will complain about anything. I say the exact same thing to friends who complain about netflix being $8 but have a $150+ cable bill. NetFlix is less than the cost of a meal or one movie at the theatre

I have to agree. It is a great deal. I just looked and I have 65 different things in my instant streaming queue. Three or Four of those things are TV shows with multiple episodes. I watch maybe 1-2 things a week. At the rate I am going it will take me probably a close to a year just to watch the stuff in my queue.

Maybe he already owned stock at the $38 opening price, and is buying more at $21 to bring his average purchase price way down. If he doubled his shares with this buy, then the stock only needs to get to $30 or so for him to sell his entire stake and break even.
