if its for wordpress you can do this with built in functions.

<?php echo human_time_diff( get_the_time('U'), current_time('timestamp') ) . ' ago'; ?>

if you want something you can plug into mechbunny, you could do a php function which you could just call for in your template.

multiple minutes by 60, add to seconds?
