Intro to Computer Science
For the last few years I have attempted to learn a number of programming languages but never really had the interest or passion to stick with it...
Anyway, following the recent iOS 6 upgrade, I noticed an app on my iPod called iTunes U and as I usually watch TV on the iPod in bed as it helps me sleep, I decided to start watching the Harvard University Intro to Computer Science videos instead and gosh I finally get it, I'm no expert but finally C, php and javascript all finally makes sense. Really worth a watch if you are wanting to learn programming, you can also find all the videos and course materials at cs50.tv Infact I am that impressed I'm actually thinking of doing some of their online computer science courses. Just thought I would share ![]()

Thanks for the link, I've always wanted to learn basic php programming, but I can never stick with it. I know enough to edit websites but never been able to stick with it to learn how to actually create the code.
Maybe this will work for me too. edit.. I just looked through the courses they have one that page and there is one that might interest many others here.. "Exposing Digital Photography" http://tv.cse7.org/2011/fall/ |

http://www.udacity.com/ is an awesome site too. They've got an intro to computer science class too. It's free, has some questions throughout the videos that are fairly easy.
Actually reminds me to get back into it as I haven't completed any classes for awhile now. ![]()

The best way to learn is to have a real thing you would like to do. Following tutorials never really sticks compared to doing something that you need.

Added to this it's not just that single course, but also a few other courses including the the previous years since 2007 to 2011. Hardly just a tutorial. |
