I love PolitiFact after a debate...

So far Romney is the only one to get labeled "pants on fire" ... and not just once, but twice. So far Obama has trues, mostly true or half true's.

Quote:
Military and diplomatic strength

Romney said he would invest in the military, noting that "our Navy is smaller now than at any time since 1917," and "our Air Force is older and smaller than at any time since it was founded in 1947." He's previously made a similar claim about the Navy and Air Force, but added that the nation was at risk of losing its military superiority as a result. Judging by the numbers alone, Romney was close to accurate. In recent years, the number of Navy and Air Force assets has sunk to levels not seen in decades, although the number of ships has risen slightly under Obama. However, a wide range of experts told us it?s wrong to assume that a decline in the number of ships or aircraft automatically means a weaker military. Quite the contrary: The United States is the world?s unquestioned military leader today, not just because of the number of ships and aircraft in its arsenal but also because each is stocked with top-of-the-line technology and highly trained personnel. When we evaluated Romney's earlier statement that included a claim about the military's strength, we rated it Pants on Fire.

Romney also claimed, "the president began what I have called an apology tour, of going to various nations in the Middle East and criticizing America." We've repeatedly rated versions of this claim from Romney, including at the Oct. 16 presidential debate. A review of Obama?s foreign travels and remarks during his early presidency showed no evidence to support such a blunt and disparaging claim. (In later years, we found two formal apologies, but they were not at the start of his presidency and not part of a tour.) While Obama's speeches contained some criticisms of past U.S. actions, he typically combined those passages with praise for the United States and its ideals, and he frequently mentioned how other countries had erred as well. We found not a single, full-throated apology in the bunch. Calling those remarks "an apology tour" is a ridiculous charge. We rated his statement Pants on Fire.

"The president countered that Romney's budget math doesn't work, noting Romney "wants to spend another $2 trillion on military spending that our military is not asking for." In the first presidential debate, Obama made a nearly identical claim. We looked at Romney's budget proposal and found the number was accurate. We didn't find reports that top brass was asking for the money. We rated Obama's statement True."

Interesting. What's the story on this one? Would he really push for 2 Trillion more for the military, when no one is even requesting it?

Yes, our military is small and lacking per Romney.

Translation: defense contractors want to make more money!

It's more about getting votes in places like Virginia that have large government contracts to build submarines etc... which won't happen if Obama is elected. Romney wants to spend money to create jobs we don't need, building weapons we don't need, rather than providing retraining or support programs to transition our economy away from those unnecessary weapons toward something else.

Mitt Romney is a shameless fucking liar. The only reason Obama "lost" the first debate is because he just let Mittens lie and lie and lie. The President learned that lesson well, which is why he made Mitt his bitch.

Obama 2012.

Read the statements on there, they are bias.

"Says Barack Obama began his presidency "with an apology tour."

He said what he calls... and explained what he meant. That is true, not false.

Edit: When am I going to learn to stay out of these threads... everyone is bias.

Those of you voting for Obama I hope you all lose your jobs because of companies closing or leaving the USA. He hasn't done good in his first term. Why would you think his second would be better?

If you think Mitt is going to bring jobs back here you are kidding yourself truly. You could make taxes zero and we cant beat a worker getting paid 1 an hour and have socialized medicine. Ole Mitt was a king of outsourcing.

Nobody "does good" if your standard is perfection on everything. Even the massive gains are said to be losses in our political climate these days. Everyone has to agree when 1+1=2 or it's useless to say someone did well or poorly.

I know it is true, Like I said before, If Romney is Elected I will be opening new businesses "outside of adult" If Obama is re-elected I will only consider one. And will find a partner to work it, So I can get around the crazy taxes, Or I'd just have to run it myself, meaning I will not open it.

Many companies are hurting under Obama, and refusing to open/expand.

That is what I would expect from media, fact checkers or politicians. Americans should not be mislead when voting.

Any politician telling a what they know is a lie, should lose their job.

This is what politics do - they make general statements that sound good but are really pointless.

What's even more scarier is the fact that we didn't really have so called "fact checking" after a debate. Decades ago we depended on the three networks - ABC, NBC, and CBS - for our news along with our local newspapers.
