How do you deal with competitors / rivals?

I don't have a lot of competition in my niches, but there are a couple of direct competitors that I consider rivals.

My mentor always taught me to be friendly with my rivals, but to be ruthless in dominating the industry. I now have an unusual opportunity to deliver a pretty hard blow to one of the competitors, but I'm hesitant... I guess I'm not THAT ruthless.

How do you deal with your most direct competitors? Do you coexist peacefully, or... well... not?

I view competition as an incentive to constantly improve my game. You can learn a lot from your competition, too - even if it means how NOT to do something.

What do you mean by "unusual opportunity to deliver a pretty hard blow to one of the competitors"?

If by ruthless you mean playing dirty be prepared for blowback. I always try and play hard but I also know I am not untouchable.

You should take that opportunity before somebody else does.

I had a competitor several years back who got busted doing something illegal... she had to shut down her site, surrender her computers and do a small amount of jail time. This other competitor is now doing almost exactly the same thing that she did, and I'm debating whether to turn him in.

Life is too short for hate.
Focus all your energy on doing the best you can.
Numbers don't lie so let your returns constantly motivate you to improve your game.
Doesn't hurt to keep an eye on your competition but most of your energy should be spent propelling your own biz forward.

"Deliver a pretty hard blow" means something like doing something to them or do something so that others will do something to them that will affect their business?

That`s not a great way of doing business... you don`t want anyone doing that to you.

I don`t focus on my competitors... I focus on my own shit... I focus on making the best possible content and focus on how to present it the best way possible... Competition is a good thing. If you make good shit, the competition will help you because the competition shows how bad their content is compared to yours! and how good your content is compared to theirs! That`s why competition is a good thing... but... only if you make good shit:-) If you need tricks because you don`t make good content you might as well stop doing what you do and focus on other business...

If i see competitors that are working on a higher proffesional level, I let them inspire me to try to reach the same level or better.

QFT!

I guess it depends to some extent what the illegal activity is, since there are some things I would probably report if confronted with them (CP, terrorist threats, etc).

Animal cruelty. There is apparently a very, very fine line between food animals and non-food animals in the vore niche; it's OK to depict people swallowing/killing feeder goldfish, for example, because those fish are bred to be used as food anyway. What got Alice (my former competitor) busted was that she was doing crush and vore videos with baby mice.

Small mammals are the holy grail of the vore niche, but I have always avoided them because, well, it's cruel and illegal. Instead, I have always stuck to feeder fish, foodstuffs and inanimate objects. I get a lot of requests for things that I consider unethical, but haven't filled any of them to date.

Soooo... I got a marketing email from the new competitor over the weekend touting... you got it.. his new videos that show his models swallowing baby mice. I'm tempted to turn him in, I just can't seem to pull the trigger on it.

I take back my previous uninformed post, and now fully support this one.

I would have ZERO problem in turning in anyone doing that.

He sounds like a twisted fuck. Now that you have posted this, if you do turn him in hopefully he doesn't find this thread and put 2 and 2 together. If I knew someone turned me in, even if I was doing something illegal I would make it my mission to bring them down eventually.

throwing stones in a glass house is a bad idea...and that's a pretty sleazy way to gain some business to begin with, so bad idea all around...

Another reason I'm hesitant. It's a dicey niche.

The part I find most disturbing (aside from torturing/killing animals) is that you seem to be considering to turn your competitor in, not for any moral reason, but rather to gain a competitive advantage, meaning you are being guided by greed instead of principle.

I won't lose any sleep when your competitor gets locked up, in fact I'll probably sleep a little better knowing that one more sick fuck is no longer profiting from such depraved behavior.

I'm outta this thread. I need to focus on something more uplifting.

It's always entertaining when GFY finds out about another microniche

Don't snitch. You know you are only avoiding mammals because of billing issues anyway.

hmmm... nevermind.

On a side note, is it really possible that my tank that had 3 goldfish only have 2 now and no signs, at all, of the third?

The goldfish have bodies the size of my finger nail. Could 2 of them really eaten the *entire* other goldfish?
