If you give out more content to illegal tube partnerships than your own affiliates

Then there is something seriously wrong.

Short term thinking. You shouldn't simply go by sale volume in this case. If it takes 250,000 video views to make a sale at those tubes but only 10,000 video views at an affiliate's site then it's in your long term best interests that the affiliate site gets more traffic. But you are creating the opposite and you are killing the affiliate site in order to favor the poor converter. Though there are new emerging markets and a rise in the amount of people coming online the growth does not offset such a conversion difference. If this weren't the case most porn companies would be thriving right now.

Conversions aren't simply ratios but also you have to factor in ctr and things like typein traffic.

Common sense: If something is available for free and immediately accessible for free most people will not pay for it.

The content you share is legal. But it doesn't mean they do not have your other content up elsewhere. It does not mean they won't pirate your stuff in the future. It does not mean they aren't pirating the content of your competitors in the same niches.

Your logic is flawed...

If it takes 250,000 views on THEIR bandwidth to get me 20 sales a day I would choose that over giving content to the affiliate at 10,000 on my bandwidth for 20 sale a week.

Either way... I'd give them both what they wanted and as far as I can tell that is what most sponsors do.

Say you are #2 for a certain key phrase in Google. Say the #1 site is the paysite you are promoting. Now let's say Google makes some changes and while your site stays at #2 the old paysite at #1 is replaced with a link to a page on an illegal tube with 500 full length videos from the sponsor you are trying to sell.

What will happen to your sales?

It's the same principle at work.

Another simple example here. Let's say you have affiliate A and Affiliate B. Affiliate A shows three 30 second promo clips to 10,000 people per day and makes 9 sales a day. Affiliate B shows 500 45 minute full scenes from your member area to 7,000,00 people per day and makes 10 sales a day (including those generated from type-ins). Is Affiliate B really better than Affiliate A?

Now what if there were a measurable effect that of those 7,000,000 that affiliate B showed your video to it was shown that it basically assures that they will never purchase a membership from you again? Probably you would prefer affiliate A because otherwise eventually you are going to run out of paying customers.

Opportunity cost is the cost of any activity measured in terms of the value of the next best alternative forgone (that is not chosen). It is the sacrifice related to the second best choice available to someone, or group, who has picked among several mutually exclusive choices.[1] The opportunity cost is also the "cost" (as a lost benefit) of the forgone products after making a choice. Opportunity cost is a key concept in economics, and has been described as expressing "the basic relationship between scarcity and choice".[2] The notion of opportunity cost plays a crucial part in ensuring that scarce resources are used efficiently.[3] Thus, opportunity costs are not restricted to monetary or financial costs: the real cost of output forgone, lost time, pleasure or any other benefit that provides utility should also be considered opportunity costs.

There are long term opportunity costs involved in giving away content. If you only look at short term value (sales volume) without trying to factor these in you risk making a mistake assuming you plan on being in the paysite business for the long term.
