Who's NEXT ??
Very inspiring blog post by Sale force.
Even the biggest multi-billion dollar conglomerate started off as a small business. After studying some of the most dominant brands, it's clear there was one common denominator that they share when growing their business -- having a clear vision. A clear vision of what you want to accomplish is one of the factors that will ultimately help grow your business from a small startup to big time player. Want to know how to grow your business? See how global brands such as Apple, Google, and Facebook did it. Apple has brought about one of the most monumental changes with its innovative mobile devices and impeccable designs, which all started with Steve Job's vision of allowing the individual and aesthetics to be the center of the computing universe, not the mainframe. Google toppled all search engines in the industry based on their ability to scale and make the web free for everyone. Facebook completely redefines how we connect with friends and brands and this success is attributed to their persistence in growing during pivotal points rather than selling it off.... http://blogs.salesforce.com/company/...-business.html |

not quite accurate about apple though.
their computers were better (meaning the operating system) but it was only relatively recently that they have had success, i.e. with the iphone, and that was not down to steve jobs or steve wozniak, previous to the iphone etc apple had "better" pc's, but that is irrelevent really, as the apple company was doing terrible, apple then got into the mobile phone market, put a product on the market that was basically almost exactly the same as other products already on the market, made theirs a bit better, had better marketing and charged more etc virgins inherent characteristics and qualities are that it is adaptable - this is since inception. it has always based the business around trends - and sold off parts of the business when the demand was or would decline. |

We have a local guy that owns a Tesla - saw it numerous times on downtown city streets. But its gone bye-bye for the winter. I'm assuming the batteries don't do well in the colder temps.
Interesting to see the stats on the Tesla Motors company. Didn't realize they've been around that long. Most folks around town mistake it for a Lotus - until they see the badging. |

yes this is a good post, but slightly misleading.
They carried on using the skills/experience that they had before the business, the business was an extension of the skills/experience they had already acquired. definitely true of apple microsoft amazon (i think) virgin started with the student magazine (called student) with richard branson and a group of other students, not as a business but as a magazine for students to air their views etc - vietnam war etc etc, to pay for the magazine they sold advertising space, they then started selling records by mail order, (which was a very big industry then) virgin records then opened up a record shop which i think they managed to get rent free, they then opened more shops and then managed to sign up some artists, most of the artists never made the label any money but they got lucky with a few - mike oldfield and tubular bells and the sex pistols etc, and so on etc etc. the first plane virgin atlantic bought the engine caught fire and blew up on its first flight, but that didnt matter as long as people had bought tickets. (what the fuck is safety ?) the other 2 i dont know Quote:

Nice to see but it looks like a propaganda piece for the salesforce guy. If I were compiling a list like this he would not be on it with the folks that are there.
Just looked at it again... zuckerberg is standing in front of a facebook sign, salesforce guy is standing in front of a HUGE sign with his name on it. I bet he has a really small penis.

Just like the rest up there, Salesforce is a complete game changer. I have used a bunch of CMS' in the past and nothing is like it. Things like VoiP Integration etc... its just awesome.
