How did fatherhood change the way you do business?

Hey all
i just became a first time dad on December 21rst and as I'm writing this my 6 day old daughter is sleeping on my chest, basically I want to know how being a dad changed your way of doing business in the industry.

Thanks in advance to all that reply and Happy Holidays

Have an almost 2 yo now and I moved my office to my home for the first year and switched my hours around so during the am and afternoon the wifey could look after the baby, and I could in the evening and during the night while still getting plenty of work done.

When they turn 2 though try and find a part time nanny and an office space nearby, but away from the house or you won't get anything done ;)

I have worked from home since before my son was born. You just have to lock to door as they get older and have someone to take care of them during work time. Best part about being at home is you see them a LOT more than most kids parents do.

How does it change the way you do business. If you dont have a wife/husband with a regular job that can pay all the bills you will all of a sudden notice that you are working more/different/harder/smarter and earning more.

Heh... it completely changed everything for me. Made me a LOT more aware and sensitive to business needs and opportunities. Put a ton MORE hustle in my step. And it was the main reason why I moved my family out of LA for greener and cheaper pastures. Went from renting a 2 bed apt. in Weho to buying a new 4 bed house in the burbs of Austin.

Firstly, congrats to you. Fatherhood is the greatest adventure.
My oldest child was raised on gallery/tgp money, during her early years. After which, I became a beast with my promotional methods and started to do damn-near anything for money. As LAJ said, it put a +1000 on my hustle.

Congratulations! My son is 6m old and he did change my life a lot. Im always early 8am in the office, trying to have finish by 5-6pm whenever thats possible. In the past i could stay up working all night, thats not the case anymore. Weekends if i get to work from home is for very few hours. No more "crazy partying" and when drinking that is done very regulated.

Things will change, but everything changes for the better. As someone already pointed out in our business you will get to see your kids more then others, especially if you work from home a few days a week. I usually go into my office at 5am, then come home around 3pm to hang out with the kids for a bit. Then when they go to bed ill get a bit more work done. At night i mostly just write text.

Anyway, congrats. That is a special time, when they sleep on your chest.

My son is almost 2, it definitely is a huge time commitment and a lot of fun. I've had to organize my life better so I can squeeze in more time for work. Usually wake up when he wakes up around 6:30 am and then I can start work when my wife is ready to take over looking after him closer to 9:00 then work has to stop around 5 or so because there is so much to do... I used to work more like 12 hours a day, but I have to squeeze it all in less time now.

I have three. They are 2, 3 and 4.

I work much harder and get a lot less sleep. Wouldn't trade it for anything.

I will say that after being with them non-stop for the past 4 years, I am really having issue with them being gone at school and daycare. My girl doesn't have this problem, because she works outside of the house. I'm sure she misses them, but she doesn't have the anxiety that I do.

I've been Mr. Mom in this situation.

It's pretty easy with the right wife. Mine are 5 and 6.
I often feel like we're living in this golden age.

It is what u make it I suppose.

Congrats - my sons first birthday was the 19th.

Like someone said above - if you work at home get a nanny or daycare as the kiddos want your attention 24/7.

same situation here... started my 2 year old in daycare for first time a couple months ago... i think it was harder on me than him!! but over the last couple of months i have grown to love the 4 hours a day of quiet in the house

congrats on the baby... enjoy every minute... it will go by faster than you can imagine
