iiHF World Jr Hockey Championships -- Anyone watching?

Finally some meaningful hockey on TV. I love it.

The Canada-Russia game the other day was awesome. Well, not so much if you're Russian. ha.

A TON of already-drafted players in this year's tournament. Way more than usual.

But I must say, one of biggest surprises for me was team Switzerland. Damn did they ever look good against Russia earlier today, game went to a shootout but until late in the 3rd period the Swiss were beating them 3-2. Russia got a late goal and then won the shootout.

But those Swiss players surprised the hell out of me. They played awesome. I was expecting a Russian blowout and they almost beat them.

Can-US game tomorrow, and Russia plays Sweden next. Can't wait.

Stayed up last night to watch US-Czech game - US finally looking like a contender - their PK looks more like a PP at times.

Game with Canada should be great hockey - as long as the refs don't go overboard with penalties and ref the game into ridiculousness. Those kids are used to that style of hockey since most of them play in North America in the WHL, OHL, etc. Let them play.

Nugent-Hopkins has lived up to the hype for the most part - but the US has some exciting players too.

The Czechs were quite disappointing for me. I was expecting them to come out swinging and play a much tighter 2-way game, but they looked pretty aweful and the US whomped them good.

That Winnipeg Jets draft pick Trouba is a hell of a player though. Looking forward to seeing what he contributes to us once the lame duck NHL starts back up again.

Wow, what a surprise no one here is talking about this tournament. GFY sure is different these days.

Canada was bent over and dominated in their game against the US. They looked virtually nothing like they did in their previous two games. The Americans came out swinging with better passing, better puck control, a more disciplined physical game, and creating better chances than Canada did, and it paid off in spades for them. The one goal we did get probably shouldn't have counted due to the major gaff on the part of the idiot ref blowing his idiot whistle too early.

Good luck to the US against the Swedes for the gold.

Russia too nearly got bent over and abused in their game. It was all Sweden for the first period and a half of this game. I was pleased to see them regroup and eventually tie it up, leading to a tense shootout finish.

Canada v Russia for Bronze. Even though it's only bronze it should still be a good game.

USA! USA! USA! This team is stacked and very fun to watch. This is such a great tournament every year. Excited to see USA vs Sweden in the Gold Medal game. The Bronze Medal game will be awesome too.

Trouba is awesome. Jones is awesome - imagine he is going to do well in the big leagues too. That little dynamo Gaudreau is fun to watch just because he looks like David against some of those Goliath defensemen.

Watching the prelims I would never have expected the US to go to the Gold medal game.

The Swiss were surprising, I agree, been a fan of that Mueller since watching him with the Silvertips, even though the Tips pretty much suck this year.

Oh yeah...

one more thing...

Been trying to get some in. Sucks where i live is one of the last places that Comcast is not yet digital so we cant get the NHL network. Also we cant do Direct TV since we have no line of site and they wont let us put a dish on the roof

Both final games should be awesome tomorrow. I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict Sweden takes their second gold in a row, but if USA plays as well as they did against Canada they have every chance in the world of winning it as well.

After seeing how flat Canada looked in their last outting I really can't say who is going to want the Bronze more. (or less) Could go either way, but I think being shut out of the medals completely is a far worse disgrace than taking the bronze. I'll say Canada wins either in OT or in a shootout.
