Xbox 360 experts help please!

So I'm trying to stream one of my hard drives from my laptop to my new Xbox 360 to play movies. One of my roomates have done this before, but has since moved out. I had to relocate my T.V. and Xbox in my room and can't figure out for the life of me how he got it to stream.

I know there's a way to do it through the Windows Media Centre. But I don't want to use that app, because last time I tried it took forever to load. The way he set it up I was able to use the my video app I think it's called were I can load a hard drive from my laptop to Xbox.

Can anyone help? It would be greatly appreciated lol.

Flash drives work best. Just plug in the flash drive, press the big giant X button on your controller, scroll to the right and go to video player. From there you will go to 'portable device'. If you have your movies in folders on the flash drive they should all show up. Not sure how to stream it straight from the laptop but I hope that helps.

TVersity is best for Windows, otherwise Playback is what I use for OS X.

TVersity looks pretty cool.

Anybody know if my Samsung Series 8 (UN55C8000XF) TV will work with it? it has all kinds of 'smart' shit but I dont play with that stuff very much.

I used to use TVersity on my old xbox 360 (red ring of death)
I got another for Xmas, but haven't figured out how to setup tversity with the new xbox 360 operating system.

Its on my to do list.

One thing that pisses me off, is Microsoft forces you to buy a monthly LIVE account just to stream from hulu and netflix... fuckers

shouldnt be a problem if it has DLNA...

also, if you are going wireless you might run into streaming issues.

I have mine hardwired to my tv.

Also, TVersity, You have to add each title to the playlist....

NERO MEDIAHOME works best, but you cant stream internet content like you can with TVersity.
