Its fucking crazy. More big brother bullshit. I guess they're really going to target businesses that profit off of unlocking phones. They don't want you profiting off of buying the phone at a lower price then unlocking it and selling it at a higher price.

Just buy an unlocked phone.
When Verizon or AT&T sells you a $500 smartphone for $50, it's subsidized for a reason. They subsidize the locked phone, so they can recover the money off monthly bills. Additionally, as the article says, AT&T will unlock your phone for free when your contract commitment is done. If you don't like that deal, then just buy an unlocked, unsubsidized phone. |

Unlocking your phone isn't the same as hacking a phone, for those of you who probably still have a landline in your house and think otherwise  |
