Russian meteor conspiracy theory

How come no one is up in arms about this obvious cover up?

Were does anyone see a meteor? Looks like a missile strike to me.

1) No one saw it coming?
This meteor was so big and did so much damage yet no one saw it coming?

2) No crater?
Where is the crater? How come we haven't seen pictures of a crater yet? Underwater? Great, the Russians have sonar and radar. I want to see images.

3) No damage?
This meteor hit with the force of twenty times the nuke dropped on Hiroshima. This nuke flattened an entire city. Other than some windows, I haven't seen any damage. Not a single building was flattened?

4) No one died?
Twenty times the force of a nuclear bomb, yet we don't have thousands dead. Wouldn't thousands of people have died just by the shock waves alone?

5) North Korean missile cover up?
We've all seen the videos of the meteor hitting, oddly enough mostly from dashboards. Sure didn't look like a meteor to me. Wouldn't a meteor be breaking up in chunks and we would see dozens if not hundreds of pieces breaking up. These videos don't look like a meteor, they look just like a missile strike. American meteor expert Jose Canseco seems to agree with me.

6) Military Strike?
Why is Znak newspaper reporting from military sources that the Russian air defense unit at the Urzhumka military base "shot something down".

7) What happened in Cuba?
Was this meteor in Russia - which oddly enough was filmed by dozens of people with dashcams - really nothing more than a cover up for a military strike in Cuba?

8) Exploded in air?
Reports from the Russian government say this exploded 100 feet in the air ABOVE the city. That sounds exactly like what a nuclear bomb would do. Meteors don't explode in mid air for no reason unless they hit something.

9) Lack of radiation reports
Oddly enough, a meteor hits a Russian town, yet no one seems to have thought to pull out geiger counters to see if any radiation was involved. This sounds suspicious to me. Or maybe they have used geiger counters but are keeping that information secret. Why isn't the Russian government being more straight forward with this?

10) Lots O video tape
9/11 happened in a major city with millions of people and only one camera got the first plane hitting the tower. Yet here in the middle of no place in the Ural Mountains in Russian, they had dozens of camera shooting the sky for no reason. Doesn't anyone find this odd?

11) Secret Russian military operations
Why hasn't anyone commented about recent Russian military movements. Military units have been put on alert and other forces moved, yet no one in the Russian government has commented on these.

I want answers.

This is the impact site of the Russian meteor... .

You mean to tell me that this metor was twenty time the size of the nuke that hit Hiroshima, yet the only photo we have is a lake with small hole in the ice?

Wouldn't that entire lake be disintegrated?

Obviously they have video camera in Russia - lots of them - but not one image of a building that fell down? Not one?

I am pretty sure they said the force created by the meteor / whatever entering the atmosphere and then exploding was equivalent to 20 Hiroshima's.

The image of the hole in the ice = probably a tiny piece of the rock that hit after it exploded way up in the air.

Twenty miles up in the sky is nearly in space. The guy who jumped was 23 miles. That picture is not twenty miles up in the sky.

Conflicting stories - did it explode twenty miles in the air (in outer space), 100 feet above the ground, or did it crash into a lake?

We are talking 10 to 20 tons of material here - that's all it did was punch a small hole in a lake?

This hole is way too small to be caused by 10 to 20 tons of meteor....

If you connect the dots this story should read: America tests missile defense system, shoots meteor for target practice. Meteor breaks into several meteorites and causes damage in several different countries......ssshhhhhhhhh, America is never wrong.

This is twenty times bigger than the nuke that hit Japan?

I've seen hail in Phoenix do more damage.

So we saw one meteor months ago, yet no one noticed the other one that nearly hit us?

How come people at NASA aren't getting fired over this?

Or maybe NASA was in on it all and they wanted to see if the US could shoot down a meteor or a missile.

But then what happened in Cuba? Did the US attempt to hit the meteor and it failed to reach the atmosphere?

Do some research about the atmosphere and the forces it places on any object entering the atmosphere. A rock entering out atmosphere at 20k/s - easily believable that it would explode far far far above the earth's surface.

As for the picture you think represents an object being closer than 20miles. Look up curvature of the earth / horizon etc - that object could be 100+k away.

There are 9721 Near-Earth Objects known as of Feb 16th. 862 of them are asteroids that are 1 kilometer wide or larger, and 1379 of them are classified as Potentally Hazardous Asteroids. It is estimated that this makes up less than 10% of all of the near-earth objects in our solar system.

There is no crater because the asteroid blew up 25 miles above ground, and did so while it was flying more or less horizontally at thousands of miles an hour.

Most of the damage caused by a Nuclear bomb is caused by the waveform it creates. A numb that explodes when it hits the ground causes less damage than one exploding overhead. To maximize the waveform a bomb has to be exploded at just the right height. The Hiroshima bomb did much more damage with a much lower yield.

Twenty times the force of a nuclear bomb, yet we don't have thousands dead. Wouldn't thousands of people have died just by the shock waves alone?
No because the shock was (a) very high up, (b) went in all directions, (c) was spread out thanks to the very fast lateral movement of the Asteroid.

Yes but if you look closely at some of the video this is exactly what you see. You may not see it on some cameras because the light caused by the heat of the breakup blind most cameras.

It looks like a meteor because it moves lateral to the ground, not falling or falling straight down at least. The sonic bomb it creates is much louder and with much higher pressure. A missile would have hit the ground to explode. And besides all kinds of radioactive markers would be made it detectable all over the world had it been a nuke.

Meteors DO explode in mid air. They are moving so fast, that the friction from the earth's atmosphere cause them to explode. The meteor in Tunguska, Russia, also exploded in mid air. It caused lots of damage and left no crater. (Though on a PBS show the other day, they say they may have found the crater in a nearby lake)

Or maybe they have used geiger counters but are keeping that information secret. Why isn't the Russian government being more straight forward with this?
Or, there is no radiation to report. It's no secret, there's just nothing to report. And in case you think they would cover it up, this would be wrong. First there's no reason to cover it up, and besides of there was radiation, it would already be detectable in neighbouring countries.

9/11 was 12 years ago when relatively few people had video cameras, let alone smartphones. Today everyone and their kids has a smartphone with built-in video cameras.

Sorry my friend, no answers for that one.

It's pretty obvious that this meteor is being measured using the Lizard Scale.

The sun is stationary. This was not. This was moving across the sky until it hit the ground.

And they didn't see it shortly before it hit the earth why?

The video footage I've seen seems to indicate it went all the way down to the ground. Video tape doesn't lie.

Right. So how come this meteor that was twenty or thirty times a nuke that hit Japan didn't do any damage?

Exactly. Maybe they were trying to hit the US - and missed. Maybe their second try landed off the coast of Florida. Why isn't our government looking into this?

So now you are saying some of the video footage is faked? Not good? Not shot under the right conditions?

Doesn't look like a meteor at all to me. Looks like a missile.

This looks like a missile that hit the ground and exploded.

So now we have rocks exploding thirty miles in the atmosphere because of friction? There isn't much friction thirty miles up. In fact, there isn't any air at that point.

How do we know what happened in Tunguska in the early 1900s? The only thing we know is the damage it did. At least that meteor seems to have knocked down a few trees. But did we have any working knowledge of what happens thirty miles in our atmosphere in the early 1900s? No, we didn't. We also didn't have any recording devices, or any tracking devices. No one has any idea how high it was when it "hit".

You are just making stuff up at this point.

There is no radiation to report - or they aren't reporting how much radiation is there?

Wouldn't there be radiation - this so called meteor just passed through the radiation belt while no one was seeing it on it's way to earth.

My father had a video camera twenty years prior to 9/11. I had one ten years prior to 9/11.

Do you honestly meant to tell me that in a city of eight million people and five million tourists that morning, not one person had a video camera trained on one of the two biggest tourist attractions in the big apple that morning, but yet we have dozens of Russians running around with dashcams in Siberia?

We are talking 10 to 20 tons of material here - that's all it did was punch a small hole in a lake?
It did not stay in one piece or we would not be having this conversation.

Why do you insist that it hit the ground as one piece?
So you are saying it didn't hit the ground in one peace but magically exploded thirty miles above the planet for no reason and then twenty or thirty or two hundred little pieces fell to the earth?

But Mark Prince tells me nothing hit the planet; It was all above. The pictures and the video aren't of a moving meteor, but it's thirty miles in the sky - like the sun.

Which sounds more possible to you - A meteor that no one saw exploded thirty miles above the planet earth and did damage to five thousand buildings but no one was killed or seriously injured and we have on pictures of any damage, or a it was a rouge missile test by North Korea that our governments want to keep secret from us?

Meteors burn up as they enter the atmosphere; 10,000 lbs burns up rather quickly then explodes into small pieces.

There was damage, all things considered, we were lucky.

BTW, there was a meteor in SF yesterday too. http://www.wptv.com/dpp/news/science...flash-of-light

Seems it is not that rare an occurrence.

It didn't magically explode. A meteor hits our atmosphere like a brick wall. It would have to be much bigger to make it through.

These facts don't seem to be getting through to you. You've been told over and over the rudimentary science of what happened, but you're not really listening.

I saw this on the news last night, and they all acted like they never saw a shooting star before. Everyone has seen shooting stars, but all of a sudden the geniuses of cable news are asking "what is that light in the sky?"
