Would it have killed you to include a link to the part that taxes the Internet. All you have a link to is some vague bills that seem to cover a lot of area...

I did a quick search of the text of that bill, nothing for computer, internet, online, or web?

Of course, thinking Congress will pass anything but raises for them or their staff seems impossible these days...

the bill wants to allow for out of state tax collection, extending the current internet tax to out of state.

it won't fly.

This was more than a month ago: "The Marketplace Fairness Act would empower states to tax online purchases. The bill would exempt small businesses that earn less than $1 million annually from out-of-state sales ? an increase from the $500,000 threshold proposed last year."

It will fly if it is made a rider to the budget bill.

If this is a state sales and use tax it's already in effect. Most people are in violation when they sign their state tax forms if they don't declare out of state purchases.

SEC. 2. AUTHORIZATION TO REQUIRE COLLECTION OF SALES AND USE TAXES.
Well, I pay use tax (sales tax on interstate purchases) on the purchases anyway. Who wants to get audited for a few $100 or less?

Can you imagine having to pay that out to 50+ different "states"?

Who wants to knowingly falsify their tax return?
