What services offer anonymous escrow for domain sales?

So I'd like to help someone buy a domain from someone I don't think is the most trustworthy person. I believe he uses a fake name for business and doesn't want to use escrow.com because they eventually tell the parties the true identity of who was just doing business, even in a broker deal where it is initially private. I don't care to out what his real name is or any of that, but I'm not about to advise anyone to give him a bunch of money on the hope that he will transfer ownership, when I know what his business practices are like.

Any advice on what services offer anonymous escrow for domain sales? PayPal accepted would be a plus.

It sounds like trouble all the way around. If it's legit business, I do not see the need for cloak & dagger b.s..

Domains are limited resources. Sometimes you don't get to choose who owns what you'd like to own.

Of course, it would be easier if the current owner were a nice honest person, but I'm not his mama, so my only business concern is making sure that delivery of the domain happens in return for dough.

Not to play devil's advocate but couldn't the person be working as a DBA? If I had to register a company for every domain/site I had to appear "real" and/or non "cloak and dagger" I'd be one broke mofo.

Godaddy and sedo don't reveal buyers if requested. Also as stated there are several domain lawyers who do this sort of thing.

I still don't see the problem with you using escrow.com. I use it for numerous transactions, and you don't release funds until you have possession of the name.

Hell escrow will go as far as to hold on to the funds, if they see that the Registrant name, and or email matches the the buyers name/email. If you need help with this hit me up on icq.

Buyer would eventually be revealed either way. Hell I've brokered a $50,000 deal myself and didn't know who the buyer was until closing. The seller nor I cared as long as the funds were there. Come to think of it, I escrowed the deal under my account and not the sellers, maybe the buyer could do the same?

Thanks. The thing is I'm trying to assist the buyer and the buyer doesn't care. On escrow.com, I could function as the broker, but eventually the seller's actual name would be revealed. This means that the seller won't use escrow.com because they require him to send over proof of who he is and I guess he does not want that revealed.

Thanks, I am going to take a look at GoDaddy, Sedo, and Ecop now. Those all seem like good options, if they'll work for this. I've transferred stuff via GoDaddy before and Escrow.com, but never dealing with someone who was all secret, and I haven't tried the other services.

What was the issue with using a lawyer ? They can do that easily...
I'm guessing there is other issues involved

Ah I see it's the seller who's not wanting his identity revealed. Yeah I suggest telling him to list it on godaddy especially if it's registered there. Only identification there is account numbers. But if the price is over $5k (i believe it is) it will still end up with escrow.com. Otherwise sedo would probably be the best route. If he can't provide his payout information to anyone then I would suspect there is something shady going on such as a stolen name. May want to do a whois history on the name and make sure it hasn't recently changed hands.

There's still a way around that, and you can still use escrow.com. I hit you up, and left you a message on ICQ.
