Internet "Pagejacker" Settles FTC Charges

Australian defendant, Gregory Lasrado, has agreed to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that a scheme that hijacked unwitting Internet surfers violated the FTC Act. Lasrado participated in a scam that copied existing Web sites and inserted coded instructions in the copycat sites which automatically redirected consumers to adult sites operated by the defendants.

Then the scammers disabled the browser's "back" and "exit" commands so that Internet surfers trying to escape the pornographic images faced screen after screen of similar material and advertisements for other adult sites.

The FTC obtained a permanent injunction from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and a court order to permanently purge this scam from the Internet in default judgments against two defendants, WTFRC Pty Ltd. and Guiseppe Nirta. A third defendant, Carlos Pereira, has evaded law enforcement authorities in Portugal. The Stipulated Final Judgment and Order announced today will bar the illegal practices and resolve the case against Lasrado.

Brisbane's porners are accused by their peers of massive spamming - transmitting millions of emails advertising pornography and bestiality to people, including children, who did not request such filth. The Aussies counter by saying that their spamming has been overstated, and that all adult internet operators do this. (See the AOL vs CEN suit.)

The other main accusation against the Aussie porners is that they frequently used stolen content. Most if not all of these issues were resolved with porn content providers in the year 2000.

Lasrado and Johnson are infamous for the amount of dollars they earn through internet bestiality sites.

Greg Lasrado's Filthycash.com operation has a terrible reputation among webmasters for using stolen content, spamming etc... Lasrado's often named as part of the Australian porn mafia. He's gotten a hiding on this site and other places over the past few weeks and is appearing to clean up his act. Sweet Entertainment Group recently got paid over $50,000 for content Lasrado's operation had stolen.

Anyway, you get the idea. He currently has a twitter account and blog, so if you want to contact him, he's apparently easy to find.

Thanks ADG, read a few of those stories before posting, was interested in whether or not there was a connection on gfy. CTB was based in Brisbane where this guy is / was and around the time cTB left here, Lasrado went belly up.

Will see about hitting his twitter and see how friendly he is.

I used to send traffic to his sites back in like 1998. Made a lot of money with it. Went out a few times with him in Vegas and stayed in one of his condos in the Versace Hotel in Gold Coast Australia. This is all like 10+ years ago.

Firstly this was a very long time ago...so my memory may be a bit off..

He wasn't ripped by a major player, imho. My belief is, he borrowed some money, and was then asked to pay it back.Thats not exactly getting ripped.

And CTB was never a major player.He was , though, like pretty much all the Ozzies I have met,a fun guy to hang out with and for a while did very well thanks to that skill. ;)

Reminds me of Randy Jorgensen, owner of AOV (Adults Only Video) stores across Canada back in the 90s. At the height of his success he owned 89 adult video stores from coast to coast and was profiled in Maclean's magazine as "Canada's King of Porn".

And then obscenity charges in '95 put him on the downhill slope. Much of his 'empire' was consolidated and downsized.

Last I heard he was building houses in Honduras - and embroiled in fraud allegations.

I knew him pretty well back in the day. Nobody pulled the rug out from under him, he pulled it out from under himself. He made some very bad personal choices and the subsequent issues that emerged just made everything fall apart. Basically his personal stuff started to erode his business stuff.... It was sad to watch.

In any case he seems to have pulled himself back together and gotten back on track lately.
