My mom loves to tell this story about me when I was 4-years-old. My brother and I went to a babysitter a few days a week and she was pregnant. Apparently one afternoon when she picked up up from the babysitter I asked my mom where babies come from and how a baby is made. She just told me they grow inside the stomach. That was enough to satisfy me so she gave no further detail.

A few weeks later I am with my dad in a grocery store. We are waiting in the checkout line and there is a guy behind us with a huge beer gut. I spin around, pat him on the belly and ask him when his baby is coming. He was not very happy, neither was my dad.

When we got home my dad storms in demanding to know what the hell my mom had been telling me. I hadn't occurred to her that I didn't realize that only women could have babies. For months after that if my dad took me anywhere before we would leave he would ask my mom if she had told me anything that I might spout off and get him in trouble.

my daughter had a period where she'd also say stuff like: He's fat, she's old and point at people in the supermarket. I think all kids do that at some point.

I had my boss's granddaughter dumped on me to look after one day at work years ago and had to go out in the afternoon with cheques for the bank and a parcel to send. In both the bank and the post office she was making observations about the other customers in a voice loud enough to be heard from the moon
