so what exactly happened to Babenet?

anybody knows? this was posted today at LF

<i>
As many of you may or may not know, BABENET the web's powerhuose affiliate program lost it's ability to provide backends to some of the most successful SPAM operations out there. You see many programs like PINK PAYS.COM, ORGASM.COM, and TEENIE PIE were dependent on the use of their processing for the backends of all their sites.

I have been contacted by a few of the programs who use their backend for SOME sites and have been told to not send new traffic to the sites using the backend and was sent a list of sites that were fine to use. Instead I have been told to send my traffic to PYTHON and Dollar Machine. As they convert better bulk email traffic (SPAM)

The closing down of BABENET"S backend cause quite a stir in Porn Valley and beyone because many of these spam operators weren't the brightest of people. Infact any moron who could hit a send button could use BABENT for their backend and make an easy $100,000 a month- especially when BABENT was paying $40 a webmaster? Now let's do the math....How can an affilte program ever afford to pay out $40, or $5 or $70 like SEXHIT and SILVERCASH once did... How You ask?

Double and triple billing credit cards for starters.....perhaps that's how BABENET lost it's last banking solution?

Or perhaps Rob Gould smoked the remaining assets BABENET had in a glass pipe? It's common knowledge that Rob Gould has been fighting his demons with drugs and infidelity for a while...perhaps the walls closed in ? What's the real story BABENET? Are you moving to Thailand with Seth Warshavsky????

I don't think this post even deserves a reply.

Babenet is a solid program and will be back in the game sooner than later.

I would like to see you make these claims to Rob's face instead of on a chat forum.

Any large affiliate that handles their own processing will deal with issues as they are going thru at some point in time. Rob is an industry leader, not some back ally crack head as you try to paint him.

And by the way, you may want to increase your vocabulary to include words like "cross sales" in it. This much more accurately describes the double/tripple billing claims you are suggesting.

what's LF?

and I wouldnt expect babenet to come back.

Now its up to the programs using them as backend to step up and still pay their affiliates.

That will seperate who was a real webmaster program, and who was just an empty shell.

no problem, Babenet goes down, Python and this Cyprus company I see connected to them step into the breach.

you can never run out of dirtbags in this industry, always somebody new stepping up.

VISA can do anything it wants, there will always be scammers who can run circles around them for awhile.

The more it happens the tougher things will get. My guess is that Mastercard is liking the biz for now but once their complaints hit a certian point they're going to lay the smack down as well

Doubt there will be problems, buying offshore companies and getting merchant accounts is like registering domains these days.

I don't understand what the big problem is, the business scheme is same as for dialer companies.

From reading the posts here and there, the problem seems to be with the reputation of BabeNet (or people there) itself rather than how the scheme is set up itself.

Couple of peeps have said it's unethical and "not right" or whatever... sounds like pure jealousy / ignorance to me.

Bottom Line:
If it's making people at all tiers good money and it's still up after all that time - ...like what's the problem here?

If you don't like the company, why not become their competition?

Babenet has always been straight with me, and I owe them a bit of support at the very least.

LF is a sensation whore, I cant recall him ever writing something positive about anyone.
Who gives a damn what Rob's personal life is like? Do they convert? Do they pay their bills? Thats what I care about....
IMHO-
Many of the larger companies have 'Gone Down', but how many stayed down? This might be a rough time for Babenet, but whos to say they wont recover, and perhaps grow stronger because of it?

What a nightmare for them....

I triple dog dare anyone to go join a babenet site, and see what happens to your cc.

That is the problem. Some people are not envious of dishonesty.

oh wait a minute, they lost their processing didnt they

are you calling me a scumbag?

that's rich coming from a content thief.

I also noticed that a certain board you moderate on is more than happy to take advertising money from the companies that use this back end billing model.

If one equates e-mail spammers with scumbags, yes, you are a scumbag. You should tell your spam crew to honor remove requests.

Thanks for your concern over my financial situation. I am making money just fine.
I couldn't give a shit what you do, until your spam crew floods my e-mail addresses with spam. And they don't honor remove requests. You know exactly what is going on, and you lie for them.

Look familiar?

Never kick a dog when its down.. It might come up and bite you in the ass.

Babenet has been around since the beginning I don't see them going anywhere any time soon.

Unless they decide to cash out

What a load of fuckall nonsense.

I'm sure that Babenet nor Python will be looming large in the candidacies for sainthood any time soon, but that does NOT mean that they are in league with the devil either.

As ANY large company -- doing in excess of a thousand joins a day -- can tell you, it's almost impossible to maintain the same merchant banking relationship over the long haul and keep your affiliates happy too. If anyone here disagrees, then by all means show me a company that's not lost a merchant account or had to go back to third party...

Everyone gets on here and bitches about IPSP conversions day in and day out, but runs to cash their checks from sponsors using Babenet or Python backends. Hypocrites.

Bottom line is simple... if everyone that cries and screams about how these companies do business STOPS doing business with them, they won't survive. Until that day comes then it's a pointless argument going on here.

Elvis, you guys coming down for the Forum again right?

No one is bulletproof, some are just smarter than others.

I dunno that I'd be so sure to count Babenet out either.

Roger, I believe that's the best policy. There's a lot of speculation flying out there right now. Rob has been a big player in this industry so we'll have to see what shakes out.
