Tech geeks , Moving a Larger Size HD to a Smaller SSD drive...

I have googled it all does anyone have a sure fire or almost close program or way to move a bigger HD to a SSD with Windows 7?


Clonezilla didnt work... I was stupid for even attempting it but if anyone has a way they have tried please lmk

damn i had done the same thing a year ago but can't remember which tool i used.. i think it was some kind of a microsoft thingy..

but the data should be archived first just be sure the space that is used isnt larger than the SSd if it is you have to make it smaller

imho it's asking for problems. I would install Windows fresh on the SSD and use your old HDD as a secondary. You'll have to re-install programs, but that's not a big deal these days. I do it at least once a year.

it went extra smoothly without reinstall, so migration is ok.. also installing the programs is one thing, but setting them all up again is an other

Do what Socks suggested. Do a fresh install on your new drive and use your old drive as secondary. It will be alot faster and you'll have less problems later.
