Epic Meltdown - How NOT to run a business

Holy shit. MUST SEE!

Part 1:

Part 2:

I used to think these shows were embellished. But not so sure after reading the comments the owners made on their own Facebook Business page..

Sometimes people get so lost in their own world they just can see reality.

There is a show called Bar Rescue where a guy goes around and helps struggling bars (similar to this show just with bars). He went to one bar that was a pirate themed bar. Okay, you give them points for trying to be original, but it hadn't worked. The people that worked there dressed and acted like pirates 24/7. The food and drinks were terrible as was the service. The places was failing. The owner and her husband and daughter had lost everything in this business and were living in her mom's basement.

The guy came in and changed it to something more upscale since it was in a business district and during their tests they got a lot of positive feedback. People thought the new look was great, the new food and drinks were great and said they would not only go there for lunch during work, but for drinks after work or on the weekend.

The night they relaunched the place was packed and the owner was miserable because it was pirate themed, although all the staff was loving it because they were making money from the tips now that they had actual customers.

At the end of the show it said she switched it back to being a pirate bar 2 days after the relaunch and it was back to failing. She was living in such a fantasy world that there was simply no way to convince her otherwise.

That blonde bitch has serious insecurity issues. Probably stems from some childhood trauma bullshit with Daddy or some other form of abuse that turned her into a kunt.

That woman is quite literally out of her freaking tree. She has persecution issues up the wazoo (everyone's out to get her), an inferiority complex that she is wayy overcompensating for, and a host of other syndromes including severe daddy issues.

The good news is she married the right guy for her. Because as whacked out as she is he is just as whacked, and he's a huge enabler for her to boot. Something's wrong with her food? Whatever you do don't tell her! Just toss it out and let her go on thinking she's the cat's ass chef of the universe.

These people are nuts. If they get any repeat business in their restaurant I'd be simply amazed with a dollop of astounded.

Ramsay was right to toss in the towel on this one. The two of them deserve to fail together.

I've only just recently lached onto this show, and so far I've watched about a dozen older episodes and just the last few from this year (including this one with the Arizona psycho-bitch-from-hell). One of the most repetitive themes that truly baffles me on the show is how so many restaurants, owners, managers, chefs etc, all admit at the start of each episode that there are a pile of things wrong with their businesses, they admit that they are failing, that not enough business is coming in, not enough money, etc etc... yet 5 minutes into it after Ramsay gives them his honest crtitique they all (every freaking one of them) says he's wrong and that he doesn't know what he's talking about.

And that is about a minute after they've said "Chef Ramsay is coming to see if he can turn this place around, he's a genius in the kitchen, he's a legend, thank God he's going to be here!".

A few minutes later he's the "enemy". Unreal.

It's like every one of them on every show expects or is hoping he'll walk in the place and give them all rave reviews on everything and tell them they're doing just fine. But in reality what they SHOULD be doing is saying they want the guy to find out everything that's wrong so they can bloody well fix it.

Either that bit of the show is scripted, to you know, make for interesting TV, or else I had no idea there was that level of stupidness on a glactic scale in the restaurant industry.

I think I'll continue to watch for now, if for no other reason than I love seeing people with massive egos get reamed, taken down several pegs, and having their heads pulled out of their asses for them. A lot of people hate this Ramsay guy, I think in this show anyway he's like the Batman of restaurant rescue.

If you haven't already, check out the first four UK series. IMO they are a far more honest depiction of the turnaround of restaurants. The US series has a gloss of fake drama and bluster, it's transparent that a good portion of the show is staged for the target audience.

They didn't do this in the UK series. The restaurant owners are the same though, people who have never run a food business who thought it would be easy and have no idea for the most part of what they're doing but think they do contrary to the evidence against them.

Not clear enough for you I guess, its 100% real. There's been plenty of local drama with this restaurant long before Ramsey came to town.

I couldn't find any information on an investigation, merely a change.org petition that has been started to get the US Labor Board to launch an investigation. I did read they were closed last Tues night, no idea if they are currently open now. They've retained a local high profile public relations firm and are having a grand relaunch party next Tues in hopes of smoothing over the damage with their local patrons. I suspect they are going to get trolled to death.

It's been said that mans strongest instinct is to seek the familiar. You see that in these shows. Same thing happened on Kitchen Nightmares quite a few times. You have people who are 1-2-3 months from losing everything, they ask for help, they then resist everything, resist change and quickly fall back into familiar patterns and familiar behaviors. Change can be wildly uncomfortable. Doing the same thing, even when self destructive and intuitively wrong on every level, still provides a great deal of comfort in its familiarity.
