I was put under, it's not simple surgery. It hurt to shit for about 6 weeks, but then I woke up one morning to no pain at all. Been like heaven ever since.

There are 4 levels and I had Class 4 batch of roids.

Get the Prep H wipes in the yellow pack at the drug store. The CVS brand is the same -- it's just witch hazel. I haven't used toilet paper in about a year, it's strictly the wipes, and they really help keep the flareups down.

Hemorrhoids are permanent damage caused by strain (while shitting, lifting, sitting on your foot....). The most you can hope for is to manage the symptoms. Hopefully it goes well enough so that it's like you don't even have them, though there will be occasional flareups no matter what.

- The most important thing is eating fiber. A small bowl of raisin bran once or twice a day is enough. That will usually prevent you from shitting bricks. If you ever eat more food than usual, eat more fiber than usual to go along with that or you'll pay the price later.

- When you shit, don't push - at all. Just relax and let it come out on its own. That might mean sitting there longer, but if you push you are going to flare up the hemorrhoids really bad. The squatting method may or may not help. You could do it just to be safe.

- Do not wipe with dry toilet paper. You've got a few options here. You could get a bidet accessory for your toilet (preferably one that allows for warm water) or fill a squeeze bottle with a nozzle on the end with warm water and blast that. Get the water as warm as you can handle it. You may want to use the squatting method if you use the squeeze bottle since it's easier to get up in there. Then after the bidet/bottle gently wipe with toilet paper to dry off. If there is a lot of shit on the toilet paper, stop and spray more water. You may find it easier to get into the shower and only get your lower body wet.

- If shitting caused them to flare up, lay down with your legs spread and cheeks open and point a hair dryer at your hole. Just don't burn yourself. You just want to heat the area up for a minute or so. That shrinks hemorrhoids enough where you can push them back up (assuming they aren't the completely external kind). That may be as simple as putting your pants back on and sitting down and they go back up, or it may require a bit more force. To do that wad up a cloth, spread your cheeks, relax, push it up against your ass and then clench. The wadded up cloth feels easier than pushing a couple fingers up against yourself.


The fiber is the #1 thing though. That will help prevent straining on the toilet and shitting bricks. If that goes well then most of the time you won't know you have them.
