the car engine is like half a block away from where the car impacted. it just jumped out from the energy of the impact and bounced 300 yards backwards?
this is not a cheapo plastic car, it is a mercedes - i dont think they explode on impact?

Damn, I never though of that. How hard would be for someone who knows auto eproms enough to put a "glitch" in there? Plug into OCDB II port and upload new firmware with slight bug. After one hard brake, accelerate full throttle, or after one hard break and a left, accelerate throttle to full. Etc...

A lot of foreign-engineered vehicles have this as a safety feature. When front crumple zones compress, they sheer off engine mounts and allow motor to tumble away, under the vehicle, on front end impacts. It's to save from engine going through firewall and injuring/killing the front seat occupants.

Looks like it went with the flow of the crash judging by all the smashed pieces all over the road.

Also - mercs have safety features (as mentioned above) that let the engine drop down ie mounts to break so that the occupants do not have an engine / trans coming into the cabin.
