I want a Tesla!

I haven't even seen one and I would buy it on the spot if I could. They need to get their act together and make more cars.

2011 Tesla Roadster 2.5 S 0-60 mph 3.7 seconds

That is like Porsche time and for 2/3 the price. Add in the electric thing and I am hooked. I was discussing what is changing things in a big way right now. This car kept coming up. A real electric car that you actually want.

The thing is the batteries. The engine is way more reliable then gas in that it has so few moving parts or parts period. And Electric cars are new but not electric motors. We have had those forever.

That Top Gear episode was in the 12th season.. The 20th season is about to begin. I have to believe that the productline quality has improved dramatically or the company would just be gone by now.

love topgear but it's for entertainment purposes only, the show is entirely scripted.

season 20 started off pretty good, the episodes are available at amazon prime.

saw several tesla a few weekends ago while attending a wedding in newport beach. it looks terrific.

i hate elon musk!

Having hot swap batteries could be the solution to the problem of electric cars limited range. But with that comes a whole slew of other problems as far as quality control goes.

Amazing car, I'd love to have one too but where I live it's absolutely impossible to get one.

I actually drove a Tesla Roadster a couple of years ago and LOVED it. It was very fast and handled extremely well. The only thing I didn't like about the car was its size. I'm 6'3" and have trouble fitting into smaller cars.

The real car for me is the Tesla Model S. I was going to buy one but the price tag forced me to wait a year and instead I purchased a 1LE Camaro (I know, gas) but I am already regretting my purchase and will be putting it up for sale in about a month or so. It's a really fun car, but I think I've outgrown them and besides, I hate spending $80 for gas every 400 Kilometers in a Camaro when I could be spending only $5.50 in electricity (or FREE if I stop at a Tesla Supercharger station) for about the same range in a Tesla

Here the Quebec Government is offering $8000 towards the purchase of an electric car but the offer is ending soon. I plan to order a Tesla Model S just before this with delivery in the spring.

Don't listen to any of the detractors.

The big problem with electric cars where I live is the cold winters. Normal batteries can get sapped overnight in -30 temps.

This would be too expensive. The cost of the batter packs are something like $10,000 and they are large. So a "gas" station would have to keep alot of these in stock, keep them fully charged, etc. Plus the electric car makes would have to make a standard size which is impossible too. Plus, this would increase the number of betteries per-car adding to pollution and disposal concerns.

It makes much more sense to use the existing infrastructure - good ol' AC power. Delivering the energy is much cheaper than shipping batteries and takes much less time too.

Tesla S is incredible, within a few blocks of me one guy bought the Fisker as soon as it came out and another the Tesla S recently, only one of them regrets their choice lol.

Pffft that's not bad at all, try $150 for 475km in a Touareg

I have the same deal. They supposedly do ok in snow. I don't see it as my snow and ice car but as the going out for the night car.

Spend that on a BMW and then have the electric car smoke you off the line.

Why? Just because of girls? I would normally agree on that but I think they would be all over this.

For the performance it is not bad at all. I have yet to sit in one so I don't know about the feel. The older one was a lotus.

Yes and which car there actually sounded good?

I'm too lazy to look it up right now, how much does the tesla weigh? What are its handling characteristics?

300 miles is a pretty good range IMO.

Weighs a lot. Sound is not much. I don't do the soud thing. I don't think my BMW sounds that great. It is fast and that is what I like.
