13 Maine republicans turn their backs on the RNP

The writing is on the wall and it's not just the average American that is sick of the Republican party. Now it's own members are leaving.

Seems the rift has started..

I was really surprised the Republican party had as much of a showing as they did the last round. Between two wars and the economy under Bush, McCain and Palin being beat by a little known black senator, and Romney with his utter lack of government skills....

I guess the problem is we have very little choice when voting - it's one of two parties, and nothing else really matters.

The Republican party had better come up with some one utterly spectacular if they want to reclaim the White House any time soon. Say what you want about Obama-boy, but he's done well - the economy is in fact improving. This is not a four or eight year problem; It's a ten or twenty year problem.

I have no problems with Obama in regard to the wars but I think he should have been more firm with Obamacare instead of letting the right set it up for failure.

On the economy it's doing better than it would have under Romney with out a doubt. However I'm very displeased that no one was held accountable for the banking fiasco.

Obama administration failing to go after bankers just sets this all up to happen again in 10 or 20 years. Much less the banks are still doing the same things as if nothing happened.

The NSA and spying issues are unforgivable. I voted against the Bush/Cheney disaster twice not to have it continue under Obama.

Not to mention that Obama stance on legitimate whistle blowers really pisses me off.

However this topic is about the not fast enough death of the Republican party. The Democrats can roll over and play dead soon enough, but the Republicans need to go first.

They released the documents on the NSA spying and it turns out it was so boring that no one even started a thread about it here on GFY. There was a mistake made with an area code that lead to some phone calls being tracked in the US, and another mistake lead a list of green card holders being passed around. There was an incident where the NSA was in fact doing something later discovered to be illegal, but they questioned it with higher athorities and when it was decided it was against the law it was stopped. It was less of an attempt to break the law, and more about not knowing exactly where the law was and the NSA asked for further instructions.

This was a lot of bullshit about nothing so far.

Ok so they didn't leave because of their party constantly trying to control women's reproductive rights, or not allowing gays to get to get married, or suppressing minority voting with draconian legislation, or saying absolutely ignorant things to the press, or trying to kill a health care bill 39 times, or being the majority in the two of the worst "do nothing" congresses in our nation's history. All that stuff is OK.

The things mentioned in their letter make it sound like the party isn't extreme enough for them. It sounds like if more people like them leave, the party might move a little more towards the center and our government could actually get something done. It's good for the Republican party they left.

You must of read a very different letter than I did bronco.. While they didn't outright say women's rights as an example they did mention things like 4th amendment rights, undeclared wars, the NSA issue and support for unconstitutional laws.

It's pretty clear these guy's support fiscal republicans which are the only good republicans. These guys likely aren't the religious nut jobs that over ran the party in the Bush administration nor are they the fruit cake tea party.

Why weren't any of these a problem when Bush was president?

I was thinking the exact same thing. The article is kinda like the exit letter Mel Gibson wrote to the Catholic Church, except Republican.

The best thing for the Democratic party are the Republican primaries. Just wait for the race to the furthest right to finish and they just rub their hands together in delight. Too dumb and slow to realize it. Here's the big question: Is Chris Christie too fat to be president?

For the same reason they're no longer a big issue for Obama supporters.

obama has vindicated his predecessor bush by saying things like the war is afghanistan is necessary and we must take out osama bin laden and his leutenants, allowing in your country in the mountains of utah to have built a secluded information nerve center. then you get them crying oh i don't want my e-mails or my pornography habits spied on by my government, however that could another discussion for another day. how can you no longer have any problems with the war just because obama said some years ago now they would end at such and such a time? people are still dying, surely you must have a problem with that.

can i add too that bush decimated the republican party. his father only had one term but he was more intellectually competent compared to his son who must have been dropped on his head when he was a boy, probably at bohemian grove.

It would be "Hillary", with two Ls, and she'd make a great pres. Here in reality, she'd actually pull independent women.

I'd say Bush was dropped on his head as a baby, as a boy, as a teen, as a young man, as an adult and as a president. That boy just ain't right.

what the united states needs is an independent but you will never see it because power is everything to the powers that be, power then control. it might not be about money anymore, money is made by man, but control, that could be different.
