earlier this past week i took a 2014 chevorlet cruze out for a drive. okay, so i will say right here and now that i happened to take a 2003 chevorlet cruze out for a drive too. like the nissan cube, an early naughtie cruze has been designed like a small box on small wheels. i went for that drive in about june, so the middle of winter, but still plenty of sunshine. my point is that the 2014 cruze is a huge improvement in regard to technology than the 2003 cruze.

but, what lets the 2014 cruze down in a big way are little things that can be easily overlooked if you haven't driven other cars out there such as toyotas and subarus. i think transparant glass or perspex on the headlights, taillights or any other lights on the vehicle look good but ultimately are not safe if you do a lot of dangerous driving. bmw have caught on to this, and i have personally viewed the 2014 bmw sportwagon and was rather impressed with what i saw, but feel the german car manufacture could have done better.

on the cruze, you will find more of this design trend with transparant glass on the sides and at the back rather than orange to display indicators lights. i understand there is psychology involved in this but i doubt someone on the road is going to see an orange indicator light turned off but think it is really on and flashing then maybe have an accident.

air conditioning outlets in the cruze are on an angle rather than flat across the dashboard to allow air to flow in to the car and around completely inside of it to keep everyone hot or cold. the speedometer is so hard to read it is dangerous, i found this also in the 2003 model and complained about it to the dealer.

the touch screen better have voice recognition and i never experimented with it however they have given it a name, it is called the ilink (holden ilink for australiasia), and it is so distracting and dangerous without voice recognition the government should lift the ban on using mobile phones in your car because one would be much better off using a phone to communicate with your eyes still on the road and driving rather than dictating to the ilink and moving your eyes over to read and see what is on the screen or push the virtual buttons.

i drove the cdx sedan and yes can you believe it it does get a bit better than that with a more upmarket model of which i think there is only one difference and you pay a bit more for it. there are no wagons, the engine size is a 1.8, there is not a hell of a lot of power unless you give it a lot of gas every time, this car got a five star safety rating, unbelievable.

finally, the boot space is small and confined compared to older sedans and no not of the same make.

i just think i need to let everyone know how dangerous this car can be to drive on the road and to not buy it or even lease it, don't finance it either. if you have a large company and you need company cars the chevorlet cruze is not the car you want.

i was gobsmacked as to how this car was designed and i think questions should be asked then heads roll at general motors.
