Anybody here from Zagreb Yugoslavia?
I have a lower AK-47 hand guard from the Yugoslavian war. It has DDZG carved in the side. I think the ZG may mean Zagreb. And the DD somebody's initials. Or does it mean something else?

Sounds like Duro Dakovic Company but again they dont produce weapons nor they are from Zagreb, they produce tanks and they are from Slavonski Brod.Could be just mark of military/citizen division.

as k0nr4d said there was a big genocide in yugoslavia, and nowdays there is nobody left, resulting in current population count of 0
![]() regarding ak-47, it is a random engravement. ak-s didnt had any engravings on their wooden parts (i guess the carving is on the wooden part of the handle), only engraving was the serial number and it was placed on the metal construction of the weapon, wooden parts can be removed and putting engravings on them would be pointless. biggest yugoslavian weapons manufacturer was "crvena zvezda kragujevac" (red star kragujevac), duro dakovic manufactures trams, and some tanks in the past ![]() |

Thanks KlenTelaris. I think you are right, probably some local division. I had an M70 AK parts kit a long time ago with some beautiful trench art on the butt. Still regret selling it, One of the dumbest things I have done. Knowing what I know now I should have spent all my money on Yugo AK parts and held on. Thanks for all the answers here.

It looks like you guys don't know much about Yugoslavia and Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, and what was happening there, but who the fuck cares now, it's over long time ago. This is hand graved marks and it marks the division of the person who was wearing that gun, and probably hand graved by him.

This is from an M70, I call it an AK-47 so people know what I am talking about. I also called my Hungarian AMD-65 and AK-47. I guess Kalashnikov would be the proper generic term. ![]()

yes you're right ... possible that Hungary or Bulgarian production because this piece of wood has a orange color and that is tipical for east Germany, Bulgari and Hungary ... ex Yugoslavia AK 47 and other variants of Yugoslavian kalashnikov have yellow color of wood on kalashnikov and yugoslavian kalashnikov have two cavities of cooling tubes , and other (excluding russian models of kalashinkov) have three cavities.(some new yugoslavian model also three cavities)...
