How many people do you normally buy gifts for at Xmas ??

Last year for us was ridiculous. We've been speaking about it lately and we kinda agree that everything needs to be cut down this time round. My side of the family is fine, i don't buy for many, mostly just the kids in the family which is what Christmas is for anyway. My gf buys sister, her bf, aunties, uncles, cousins, and the list just seems to go on and on.

Her argument seems to be that since she's bought these people for all these years, she doesn't really want to stop now. I've found that people usually like when you suggest to them that the usual trade of gifts should or could be stopped, as they have been wanting to do the same thing for a while aswell but didn't want to be the first to suggest it.

Some people i speak to say the only really buy their other half, and maybe parents if they still have them but that's mostly it.

I myself only buy for my wife and daughter.

However, "we" - meaning my wife and I (meaning my wife) buy for her parents, her two brothers, two sisters in law, and a nephew and a niece. This is who we spend Christmas with every year and have for years.

What our family does now is put all of the names in a hat.... Myself, my wife, two brothers, two sister in laws, and we each pick a name and buy for that person. Everyone buys gifts for the kids - our daughter, the nephew and the niece.

Christmas has long since become buying gifts for everyone else. If I want something, I buy it. The only thing I "might" want is to upgrade to a newer kindle, and I am putting that off so I can add it to my list. I don't need or want anything.

i buy for 6-10. i like giving thoughtful gifts to adults. this year i am making up my own trail mixes and giving those out in cool containers to the adults, as well as the usual electronics for the kids. a couple peeps, like my mom, i'll give a couple gifts to. something i put together by hand and usually something she would never get herself.

Ten maybe... we have cut down a lot, everyone is getting older and buys what they want throughout the year anyway...

I usually adopt a family for Christmas; so it really depends. I never do the same family twice.

The only family I have is a sister and a brother. The sister earns a hefty amount working for the government in legal policy and has a good number of years on me - something sentimental works great here. I don't need to spend more than $100 to put a smile on her face and make her feel loved.

The brother is 10 and likes cool shit. As a bigger brother with a love of science and interesting things, I can sort him out pretty easily a week before presents are due with some kick ass chemistry kit and a book about the universe.
