How is this ACA a good thing for the country?
Too expensive. Rates are climbing.
Has a stifling effect on job growth.
We didn't have a choice to opt out.
Invasion of privacy.
Why did it get rolled out nationwide instead of a controlled pilot program to iron out the bugs?
This is a very ill conceived and executed program.

If the Affordable Care Act fails, what do you think will happen next?

Back to allowing Big Insurance to make all of the rules, or Single Payer, allowing the government to make all of the rules, or ????

I know what the Republican/Hertitage Foundation Plan was... it was The Affordable Care Act, which they hate now, since it was implemented by a right-leaning, non-white "Democratic" president, but if it all falls apart, what's next?

I don't see this as a race issue, I see it as a lack of common sense issue.
I would happily go back to what I had before which was cheaper, a doctor of my choice, and i'd get to retain my privacy.
I agree the healthcare industry definitely needs to improve and become more affordable but this ACA is a mess. Lets make changes but let's run a trial to work out the bugs before it gets rolled out nationwide. Forcing people to participate with the threat of a penalty if you don't is never going to gain acceptance by the bulk of the population.
Americans are like mules, we will pull a load all day long until you try to get behind us and push. They we sit down and refuse to budge. Obama grossly underestimated the public's will and determination which is a problem he seems to have frequently I might add.

If this is the next generation, we're going to be paying for a whole lot more health-related issues very soon...

You were forced into it? Do you even know what you are talking about?

I'm staying on the same insurance I've been on for years, nothings changed.

Same deal here. I can look to see if it is cheaper which I think i found a better deal but other wise I just stay where I am.

Edit: And before someone jumps on the fact that I am not it is a better deal. I did not find health insurance all that transparent before. I certainly don't find it that way now.

actually rates are going down, we had two people here that got on the system said the rates were lower than what they are paying. Also tell that to someone who now has coverage who didnt before or couldnt afford coverage now can because of the ACA.
As far as Jobs
http://www.smartplanet.com/blog/bull...ler-8221/31363
"There have been some reports that businesses are reducing employee hours, and some have even shifted part timers from corporate plans to the ACA?s exchanges. However, Disney announced this week that it was making some part-time employees full time. History tells us that employer-supported coverage increased and there was no significant decrease in hiring in Massachusetts after Republican Presidential candidate Mitt Romney enacted a very similar law.

?The current data do not show the health law affecting job growth, wage growth or the proportion of part-timers in the labor force,? The Times wrote. It concluded that it?s simply too soon to tell, because portions of the law are not in force such as Medicaid expansions in roughly half the states, subsidized insurance exchanges, and the mandate on some employers to provide insurance coverage.

?Both sides are being hyperbolic - Democrats on the effects on health costs and Republicans on the effects on jobs,? said Dr. Mankiw. ?The data are not really there to reach any firm conclusions.? Any assertion that the health law is destroying jobs is ?a hypothesis? that doesn?t accurately reflect what will happen, he explained."

And actually if you kept your insurance, you have better coverage then you did before because of the changes the law created. And if they dont use 80 percent from healthcare you get a check rebate at the end of the year.

Yep and Newt hailed the insurance mandate at the time calling it needed personal responsibility. And he said it again in 2007 :
In a June 2007 op-ed in the Des Moines Register, Gingrich wrote, ?Personal responsibility extends to the purchase of health insurance. Citizens should not be able to cheat their neighbors by not buying insurance, particularly when they can afford it, and expect others to pay for their care when they need it.? An ?individual mandate,? he added, should be applied ?when the larger health-care system has been fundamentally changed.?

How is it a good thing for the country? It's simple. Those who can afford healthcare insurance are subsidizing those who don't have health insurance.

Are they? Where do you see that?

The concept here is that with more people buying healthcare insurance, the cost should go down.

How is that possible?

No really, where did you hear that bullshit from? If twice as many people suddenly get health insurance, they'll have to hire a lot more people to take care of their new customers. Not less.

Oh, do you mean more employers will drop their employees down to part time? I don't believe that. Even Wal Mart has announced they are doing to start doing the direct opposite.

No you don't have a choice to opt out. That's the entire point. The people who don't have healthcare are causing the price of healthcare to go for everyone else. You WILL need healthcare at some point in your life. Thus, you are going to pay for it one way or another.

Now you are just being silly.

The Federal government doesn't roll out laws "in controlled pilot programs". It's a law, not a trial program.

Perhaps the Republicans should work on fixing it instead of shutting down the government. I mean, seriously, how can they fix what's broken if they are all off of work for weeks at a time?

Put it into place, figure out what's wrong, and fix it.
