Comet : Ison
The comet of the century ??
![]() Some people seem to think so. While others suggest it won't survive it's trip past the Sun. Coming soon to a sky near you: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-25052236 Quote:

I don't have a telescope but I would like to see it. I hear it's going to be visible during the day, the only comet for 400 years that would be.
Been thinking about getting up early for the past few days but can't really be bothered yet. It's supposed yo get brighter as we move towards Christmas. |

If it makes it past the sun, which seems unlikely, then yeah it'll get to it's closest point to Earth on Dec 26th then move away again. It should be naked-eye visible for 3 more days but so near to the sun that you need to be careful trying to see it.

I'm going to be getting up just before dawn wednesday and thursday to see if I can see it.... I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it survives perihelion, but I'm not counting on it...
