Going to see Robocop this weekend!

Anyone here checking this one out ? Got a feeling it will be shitty and they should just have left it alone, but curious to check it out for myself either way...

I think it's only a 12 rating as well. So i guess the violence levels have been cut down a fair bit.

Waiting to hear about the movie before I go.
I saw the Hercules movie before I heard anything about it, had I heard about it, I would have saved a couple hours of my life from seeing that terrible movie!

based on the trailers for the shawshank redemption, usual suspects and pulp fiction they were stupid and worthless--i think those turned out ok right? Trailers don't mean much, that last will smith movie looked awesome in the trailer and that was one of the worst movies made last year.

Those same critics didn't like the original robocop originally either.

The original was just re-released on bluray. It's completely remastered and has some cool new HD interviews. I picked it up off Amazon for cheap.

The total recall remake wasn't *TERRIBLE* so i don't think this will nessesarily be THAT bad.

I agree with you, in the press this morning they were saying how Total Recall was horrible and Robocop will be the same, bullshit, the movie was ok and worth a watch, by no means was it terrible. I think Robocop will be good, I'm certainly pumped to see it.

Total recall was ok,but still original is original.I guess that is curse of any reboot,if original was famous then it is probably not possible to make same/better.

Looks awful. The pg13 rating gives it away. Part of what made the original great was the over the top ultraviolence.

There's always hope though. The new version of Judge Dredd they did a while back was quite good.

I agree that the original is the original, but if they named total recall something different it wouldn't have been a *bad* movie. I mean, I didn't drop to my knees from and grab my head from disbelief at how great it was, but it was definately worth a watch and im sure robocop will be the same.

One of the scariest things I have seen in a movie was the robot at the beginning - They wont be able to top that...

hollywood is creatively done, spent. these bean counters are so conservative, they will sequel just about anything before they produce an original idea nowadays.

The big problem with Total Recall was that it was just no fun.

The original Total Recall, like Robocop and Starship Troopers, were all directed by Paul Verhoven, and each movie worked on 2 levels. The was of course the main story of each, but cleverly woven into each was incredible, funny, biting satire. In fact, the ultra-violence in Robocop was a part of the satire.

I didn't see the new robocop yet but the reviews are mixed. The new one is rated PG so the violence is gone, and apparently there's no humour at all so that's gone too. And according to IMDB the director called making Robocop the "worst experience of his life" because 9 out of 10 ideas he had were squashed by the production company.

I have a feeling it'll be like the Carrie and Oldboy remakes. Not necessary, but ok if you don't compare to the original.

The director of Robocop has a good track record with his Brazilian movies.

I saw the new Robocop today.
They updated the story with new technology that hadn't even been imagined back when the first was done, kept the story pretty much the same, some changes.
New Robocop kicked ass in a serious way.

If you liked the OG, you will probably like the second one as well. I enjoyed it.

In this one, he like a built in NSA function that helped a lot in catching the bad guy. No spike coming out of his hand, he was WIFI ready

Not even close, most of it you could have put on it. The scene where they show whats left of him, maybe not!
