The bottom line of anyone who used the Mt.Gox exchange: your account balance is now zero.

Ahhh you're right - it's about that bitcoin exchange. I apologize for posting before reading - that's quite a headline.

Astonishing that so many on this board - supposed internet biz people...could be so uninformed about the biggest thing to ever hit the internet.

More than any other event - this generation will go down in history for witnessing the birth of digital currency.

That's how major this shit is.

You must have your whole life savings invested in bitcoin. You get so fucking defensive any time somebody says anything about it. You sound like a person with some serious issues.

I did cashout about 80% of my bitcoins. Made quite a lot from it

I've thought about going all in, but I won't deny the fact it is still so new, an so risky still (the value of bitcoin is risky I mean), as for the mtgox thing, everyone who lost coins there had the same opportunity as anyone, to store there coins offline, rather than leaving them in the exchange.

Finally someone who talks reasonable. I was reading all that hate posts about mtgox and no one to mention why the fuck would anyone hold huge ammount of coins on their exchange. They all know how bitcoins works, how those exchange works and what's the difference between online and offline store. All the exchangers might get hacked one day and once you lost your wallet it's gone forever. so why blaming mtgox when you kept your money on them instead on your wallet.

People that know are making a ton of money trading cryptocurrency. Every single day there is opportunity to make money. And this has been going on for over a year or more. It is still going on. I'm making more money now with this than I ever did in porn. Apple stock is right at the same price as Bitcoin. Most of you haven't got the knowledge to make informed comments. I understand this is GFY, but if you don't like risk, or don't gamble, or don't even make an effort to understand why others like crypto, why do you think you have a legitimate opinion? It's not going away, and the ones in know are the ones that will make the money. The rest of you will not. That's about it. It's not about the currency is it? It's about selling something someone else is willing to purchase. That is basically all that is needed to make a product legitimate. You don't like farts in a bottle? Maybe someone else does.

WOW gold has a certain intrinsic value for WOW players, but Bitcoin does not, so it is perhaps more truly a currency. I suppose WOW gold is kind of just a currency with capital controls in place though.

If China dumped its current dollar holdings tomorrow, the USA would spiral into hyperinflation and the dollar's exchange rate with other currencies would become essentially worthless. I'm pretty sure the dollar is still money.

Same thing. Currency has no intrinsic value.

Why does bitcoin make people so mad? I accept yen on my membership sites and nobody has ever freaked out at me that the Japanese economy has had some instability.

what are you going to do when this game of making up some stupid coin and buying and selling all day long dies? i don't see bitcoin going away but all these other coins do nothing and offer nothing. even dogecoin which was built on a joke has been perverted for profit but for what? it does nothing. i wish i had bought in when bitcoins were cheap but i didn't but all these other coins are just pure stupidity. more power to those making money off them but i can only hope those doing this have the sense to get out before the they crap out because they will...the fact that anyone can create these script based coins makes them worthless.

Bitcoin is dead. It's just a never ending scam. The only people who make money are wallet websites, that get "hacked" on a regular basis.

Dogecoin and other silly coins are totally stupid, supported only by internet nerds.

All you have is virtual money in a virtual world. Your money have about the same value as some online role playing game, which is to say, not much.

MarcusAureliuos you are wrong. bitcoins can be downloaded to offline wallets, not so virtual if you do that right? how can an exchange get hacked and lose coins if you protect them offline? surely something u didnt know about right?

Also, $560 value per bitcoin, i wouldnt go so far they are worthless. The world will decide its worth and i think the facts speak for themselves

Read thru the threads again, you'll see there is quite a large group of anti-bitcoin people that call it idiotic, stupid, retarded, etc for anyone to mess around with "fake money", "play money" etc etc. These people all claim they don't care, or are not interested in bitcoins yet they are die hard in every thread putting it down.

If someone is posting shit I dont care about, for example gay porn threads, I really would not care to chime in. These guys "dont care" or are "not interested" (about bitcoins) yet they chime in on every bitcoin thread.

How does that make sense?

Honestly I do not know. I would guess to make fun of and belittle those who are believers in the phantom currency, bitcoin, or similar sort of subjects we see on the forums daily. People still can voice their opinion, and many people do, regardless of their opinion on any given topic. I personally do not see that as "giving a shit" one way or the other.

That being said, we could both read the same thread and replies and take two different meanings from it. Especially if one of us cares, and the other does not. Just like email, the context of words on a forum could be interpreted differently based on the bias or prejudice of those reading it.

If I was really deep into bitcoin, I would be telling others to get out so I can get in deeper, wouldn't I?

Kind of strange these guys get so upset with the "nonbelievers." I love when people think my money making method is bull shit. Makes life easier for me.

primarily i attack people who are attacking other people, calling others uninformed when they make the dumbest asshat comments that results in a hopeless oxymoron.

Bitcoin represents freedom, responsibility and self ownership. These concepts invoke powerful psychological defense mechanisms in an underdeveloped or emotionally damaged person.

There is no logic you can use that will change their opinion becasue the reaction is based on emotion.
