To put it in context though, violent crime is just ridiculously out of control in South Africa, it is pretty mind-boggling when you read about how bad things are there, where it's more surprising when you *haven't* been mugged or robbed at gunpoint than when you have.

But yeah, he's a lunatic. It's funny, when watching the Olympics I was like - "damn, this guy has no fucking legs and yet is competing against the best runners in the world, that is someone we could all stand to emulate even 5% of their willpower and makeup." Now.... not so much.

Not many had the high level of security that he enjoyed at his house though. I watched a documentary on it a while back and it was state of the art stuff. Yet he gets "gung ho" by the sound of his washing machine?

Like i say, typical panicky gun nut...

What a crook of shit.

He used running blades on his legs to run with the best.
It's called fucking cheating.
You would see that if you plug you're bleeding heart for a second.

The irony is he shot his wife for cheating; but he's the biggest cheater ever.

This guy is the product of a gullible public that bought his sad ass sob story con to let him cheat in a foot race.

Sorry for his disability; but he deserved to run in the Olympics as much as a blind man deserves to be a jet fighter pilot.

Umm okay, relax? Typical shrill GFY overreaction, I swear some of you guys got serious anger issues to work out.

I get the blade controversy and personally agree it's dubious to run in the same races as blade-less participants. Was more referring to the determination necessary to reach that point, whether it's training directly in the face of your disability or lobbying for the right (however disputed) to race in the Olympics. And that was kinda my point, he was a media created feel good story that couldn't have been farther from the truth.

I think you're right. I think that most "gun nuts" are scared out of their minds thanks to Fox News and the NRA. There's nothing wrong with owning guns when you're a gun enthusiast, but demanding that it be legal to take guns into bars? Demanding that teachers be armed? Stand Your Ground laws? This is extreme gun-nuttery by people too scared of their own shadow.

So, if you or a loved one is about to be assaulted, robbed, mugged, raped, your advise is to let it happen and not defend yourself? (please answer)

That's what "stand your ground" is, standing your ground and defending yourself. The fact that this law is sometimes abused like every other law gets abused is no reason to abolish it.

I think it's the anti gun crowd that's dangerous.

Colorado gunman Karl Pierson, who seriously injured a 17-year-old girl when he opened fire at his school, supported tougher gun laws.

The 18-year-old, who had been dropped from the debate team, was said to have had strong views on politics and gun control, classmates said.

Pierson was also allegedly suspended from the school in September for making threats against the team coach, Tracy Murphy, believed to have been the target for Friday?s attack.

?He had very strong beliefs about gun laws and stuff,? junior Abbey Skoda told the Denver Post.

The paper reported that Pierson had once posted an image on Facebook with the slogan: ?The Republican Party: Health Care: Let ?em Die, Climate Change: Let ?em Die, Gun Violence: Let ?em Die, Women?s Rights: Let ?em Die, More War: Let ?em Die. Is this really the side you want to be on??

The post had been removed on Saturday.

Despite seemingly supporting gun control, Pierson legally bought the shotgun that he used only one week before carrying out his attack.

The teenager carried out his attack while his mother, who he had been living with since his parents divorced, was out of town caring for a sick relative.

During the attack he fired five times, shooting 17-year-old Claire Davis at point blank range, before shooting himself in the library.

I always wonder how important these people think they are, they seem to believe that everyone is looking to kill them.

Who was that gfy gun nut from Vegas who came on GFY claiming he shot two "intruders" whom crashed into his garage door with a truck? Later on he showed video of the truck ramming his garage but they never got inside.. Meaning he lied his ass off about "dropping" them.. He was a regular back then, but think he disappeared after that one... LoL

Guess you didn't read the whole post, the shooter was anti gun

Do you comment often on things without reading them?

What? Fox News? Seriously?

Fox News has been on the air for less than 20 years.

People in the U.S. have ALWAYS owned guns. It's only in the last few years that the media has turned them into: "Gun nuts"

And what does a runner in South Africa have to do with the U.S., Fox News, or the NRA?

Goddamn...

WhatsApp messages revealed in court today.

Quote:
Reeva Steenkamp texted Oscar Pistorius to say "I am sometimes scared of you" just weeks before she died, the athlete's trial has heard.

An emotional message from Ms Steenkamp on January 27 last year accuses Pistorius of picking on her "incessantly" and denies flirting with her friend's husband at an engagement party.

It also accuses the athlete of being "nasty" and throwing tantrums in front of people.

"I'm scared of you sometimes and how you snap at me and how you act to me," says Ms Steenkamp.

She tells Pistorius the pair have a "double standard relationship" where he is "quick to act, cold and off-ish when you are unhappy".

Ms Steenkamp also complained Pistorius got upset if she ever mentions something about an ex-boyfriend, while "every five seconds I hear how you dated another chick".

In a message displayed on court monitors, Pistorius admits he is "tired and sick" but says it is not an excuse for his jealous behaviour.

He accuses Ms Steenkamp of ignoring him while she spoke to another man and touched his arm.
