Why are VPN's considered safe

Extreme example but if the FBI wants to track your internet activity instead of just telling your isp to give up your info they will tell the VPN provider that. What am i missing here?

Most people aren't worried about the FBI. They are worried about a common criminal or voyeur looking in on their activities. Or maybe they are worried about their ISP or they have to use unencrypted WIFI connections at times.

Hidemyass handed over info on the hacking activities of Lulzsec to the FBI. But like signupdamnit said, It is too easy for somebody to pull a Man In The Middle at a public wifi. Some also use VPNs for downloading copyright protected stuff on torrents.

If you have a dynamic ip a vpn can help you keeping your server firewalled. It's also good to protect all your admin areas with ip restrictions on top of normal username and password protection.

Only IPSEC VPN is safe. PPTP and L2TP are easy to break....

Because a VPN provider in Russia, China or Pakistan will tell FBI to suck a cock.

Savvy?

I'm using VPN everytime i started my daily porn activity (i.e. visiting gfy and updating my sites). But i turned it OFF when i just visit normal sites likes youtube and social medias.

Question: Does my ISP will still know those porn sites that i'm visiting daily even though i'm using VPN? I mean they will still have a log files on that porn activity?

Thanks

VPNs are not as safe as you think. You traffic is still coming out on one end or another, in this case, the vpn's, and you don't know what they are doing with it.

Also you better believe they are in fact tracking you and storing records even if they say they arent.
